Chef Jose Garces Introduces Phila Lorn at Next Chef in Residency at Volver at Kimmel Center

Chef Jose Garces announces Chef Phila Lorn as the next Chef in Residency at Volvér on Kimmel Cultural Campus just in time for the holiday season. Chef Lorn's residency will run from December 1, 2021 to January 17, 2022. Funding will help support Chef's first restaurant that will soon showcase Cambodian food, music and culture. Currently, Chef Lorn is working at Terrain Glen Mills and he recently was a special guest chef at Stina in South Philly. Lorn's menu will include nearly ten items, and include Crispy Soft Shell Shrimp, Pleah, Crab Summer Rolls, Banh Chow Crepe Salad, Steak and Chimichurri, Roasted Hamachi Collar, Mawn 'Pho Don', and more. For the new Chefs in Residency Program, each Chef will showcase their top signature dishes on the Volvér menu for six to eight weeks, alongside Chef Garces' signature French-inspired dishes. Through a special donation program in partnership with the Garces Foundation, each Chef in Residency will have the opportunity to raise money to support their work with their current restaurant, or to use for the start of their next culinary journey.

Coney Shack Brings A Taste of Coney Island to University City

Coney Shack expands outside of New York City with the debut of their first out of market concept right here in Philadelphia. Chef, partner and founder Lawrence Mach teams up with Michael Tang of SET NoLibs to grand open Coney Shack at 3818 Chestnut Street this Friday, July 9th at 11:00am. Coney Shack started as a food cart in a parking lot of Coney Island back in 2013 and graduated to a food truck, a brick and mortar and then to a Times Square storage container pod-kitchen serving thousands of New Yorkers every week.

Stina BYO Chef Bobby Saritsoglou joins forces with Chef Ari Miller of Musi on Tuesday, June 29th for a four-course collaboration dinner to raise money for The Attic Youth Center - as part of Philly Gay Pride Month and Stina’s Two Year Anniversary. The special menu for one night only includes options, such as Marinated Feta & Charred Lettuces, Fish Kebab Roasted in Fig Leaf. Malted Grain, Red Tahina. Dry-Aged Duck, Mint & Cherry Zhoug and Black Lime Malabi Charred Fruit & Olive Oil. Stickman Brews will also host a pop-up during the event with four beer pairings for each course, for only $10 for 8 ounce pours, or $5 for full-sized a la carte 16 ounce pours. Twenty percent of the evening's sales will go to Stina's June beneficiary, The Attic Youth Center to support programs for Philadelphia’s LGBTQ youth.

Northern Liberties Business Improvement District announces the debut of a brand-new, self-guided Philadelphia Mural Art Crawl just in time for summer. Northern Liberties Mural Hunt: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Street Art will debut on Friday, May 28th and run through Monday, July 5th. Participants in the scavenger hunt can participate by downloading the free Let’s Roam app from Google Play or the Apple store, then locate the mural hunt on the app’s regional map. Philadelphia's largest open-air outdoor restaurant is coming back! FCM Hospitality and owner Avram Hornik announce that Morgan's Pier (221 N. Christopher Columbus Blvd.) will open for the year starting on Thursday, April 22nd at 4:00pm. Now celebrating its tenth season the Delaware River, the region's top al fresco dining destination and tourism hot spot will bring back the summertime vibes, breathtaking views, great food and thirst-quenching drinks to the Waterfront. For this special milestone season, Morgan's Pier welcomes Chef Waldemar (Val) Stryjewski taking the helm in the kitchen with a brand-new menu of returning and new favorites - with an expanded selection of seafood, snacks, small plates, flatbreads sandwiches, sweets and kids' favorites. Two Locals Brewing Company, Philadelphia’s first Black-owned brewery, announces the launch of its first beer releases starting this week. Under a new relationship with FCM Hospitality and Mainstay Independent Brewing, Two Locals Owners and Brewers Richard and Mengistu Koilorwill bring Nubian Brown Ale (5.7% ABV), Prolific Hazy IPA (6.4% ABV) and Who You Wit? Belgian-style Witbier (5.7% ABV) to the Philadelphia marketplace in 16 ounce cans, four packs and Sixtel kegs. Nubain and Prolific will be available immediately for purchase online through twolocalsbrewing.com or through Craft Hall (901 N. Sisterly Love Food Fair Heads to Northern Libs, Ardmore, and Cherry Street Pier

The Sisterly Love Food Fair celebrates Women's History Month with special food fair pop-ups heading to all corners of the region. For four weekends in a row, look for the top local female chefs, restaurateurs and entrepreneurs supporting each other during the pandemic at this one-day outdoor, socially distanced food markets. On Saturday, March 6th, Sisterly Love will head to the Main Line and Philadelphia Suburbs for the very first time. Hosted by Ardmore Initiative and Restaurant Marokko, Sisterly Love will pop-up in Schauffele Plaza in Downtown Ardmore from 12 Noon to 2:00pm with dozens of regional and local vendors, plus entertainment provided by Ardmore Music Hall.

South Street Ready To Rock N Roll During South Street Spring Festival

South Street Headhouse District announces 30+ bands are ready to rock n roll at this year’s South Street Spring Festival on Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 11:00am to 8:00pm. The all-day, all-ages, free outdoor festival and concert will feature a mix of rock, funk, soul, hip hop, indie rock, reggae, R&B and country acts entertaining tens of thousands from three stages and seven performance areas. In addition to music and other live entertainment, look for 125+ vendors, 35+ restaurants and eateries, and 24 makers and artists. South Street Spring Festival runs on South (between Front and 8th) and along Headhouse Plaza (between South and Lombard), plus connecting side streets.
