Chickie's and Pete's Announces One Dollar Crab Fries for Charity on National French Fry Day

Chickie’s & Pete’s is once again celebrating National French Fry Day with their 8th Annual Crabfries for Heroes event which benefits the Fraternal Order of Police Survivors Fund. All sales from one dollar Crabfries® on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 will be donated to the Fund to help families of fallen police officers. All major Chickie's and Pete's locations in the Philadelphia region are participating, including Audubon, Bordentown, Drexel Hill, Egg Harbor, Glassboro, Marlton, Parx Casino, Roosevelt Blvd., South Philadelphia, Robbins Ave and Warrington. As a special thanks to the community, Chickie's and Pete's will also launch the Crabfries Express on Thursday, July 14th with the famous food truck visiting Philly landmarks with free Crabfries.

Philly AIDS Thrift Announces Over $300,000 in New Grants to 27 Local Organizations

Philly AIDS Thrift is pleased to award $300,035 this spring to 27 organizations and programs focused on HIV prevention and care, as well as support for people living with HIV/AIDS in the Delaware Valley. Philadelphia's largest thrift store and non-profit organization has turned yesterday's treasures into $3,691,813 over the organization's 16 years to support Philadelphia regional organizations on the frontline of the HIV/AIDS crisis. This support is more important than ever as non-profits throughout Philadelphia and across the country have been challenged financially during the continued global pandemic. The annual grant program by Philly AIDS Thrift started back in 2014 as another way to serve the community, and it has continued even during the COVID crisis. The next request for grant proposals will take place towards the end of 2022.

Two local small businesses are teaming up with the most unique Valentine's Day gifts in the region. Steven Singer Jewelers returns for Valentine's with their signature 24 kt. gold-dipped roses, including a new color with Emerald City Green. Singer is open at their location at 739 Walnut with special Valentine's Weekend hours. SliCE is also taking orders and delivering heart-shaped pizza grams now through Valentine's Day in Fishtown, Northern Liberties, Center City, South Philly, University City and Washington Township. Together, the two have joined forces and Singer is donating part of the proceeds from Valentine's gold-dipped rose sales to support SliCE and feed over 750 health heroes and frontline staff heart-shaped pizzas this week at both Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Pennsylvania Hospital. On Valentine's Day itself the two will again team up and three lucky heart gram recipients will find a special gold-dipped rose with their heart-shaped pizza.

Flight On Ice Heads To Delaware County With Festive Outdoor Ice Skating Rink

Flight on Ice is gliding into Delaware County with a giant outdoor ice skating rink and winter village that will pop-up in Newtown Square. Four Philadelphia region business partners and friends are bringing a festive winter village to Delaware County, in an area next to Bonefish Grill, at 4889 West Chester Pike. Flight on Ice will bring with it ice skating, festive lighting and decor, light dining, hot cocoa, special events and lots of outdoor fun. This brand-new, full-sized ice rink will debut just in time for the holiday season, and it will run through at least February of 2022. Break out those mittens, sweaters and scarves, and get ready to lace up your skates! All ages and experience levels are welcome. There will also be plenty of fun for those that don’t skate but who want to come out with their friends and family. Steven Singer Jewelers has teamed up with Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) to support their work in finding Philadelphia homeless pets their forever homes. The man everyone loves to hate is doing good again this holiday season by pledging to donate twenty-percent of all sales of the exclusive Helping Paw necklace to PAWS for their life-saving efforts. Singer donated $10,000 this week from early sales with a pledge to keep raising money for PAWS until December 31, 2021. Continuing to raise money for PAWS until the end of the year - and through the busy shopping season - was something that is near and dear to Singer's heart. Singer is an animal lover and adopted Buddy, his own four-legged friend, from a rescue shelter. Singer also recognized that during the pandemic dogs and furry friends helped many people through the darkest times of the last year. Chickie's and Pete's has partnered with Eagles Legend Brian Dawkins on the debut of a mouth-watering new charity burger to help The Impact Foundation. Starting today, Chickie's and Pete's will debut The B Dawk Impact Burger, a Primal Supply grass-fed burger with jerk spices, provolone, Caribbean spiced pineapple sauce, jalapeño chimichurri, topped with a fried egg and arugula. It is served with a side of Crabby Sweets with Cinnamon Maple Sauce. The new burger was designed with help from the NFL Hall of Famer, and five dollars from each and every Impact Burger go to The Impact Foundation to provide inspiration, education and resources to youth, families and communities in need. The B Dawk Impact Burger retails for $16.95, with extras available that include two lobster tails for $11 extra, crab cake for $8 extra and cold shrimp for $5. Northern Liberties Presents Hound-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest and Festival to Help Street Tails

Philadelphia's largest Halloween pet costume contest is back - and cuter than ever! Northern Liberties Business Improvement District partners with Street Tails Animal Rescue on the 7th Annual Hound-O-Ween Fall Festival and Doggie Costume Contest. The event is back in person and moves to the intersection of Laurel and N. 2nd Street, on Sunday, October 31st, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. This year, to ensure proper health and safety protocols, 40 of the region's most festively decked out pets are invited to strut across the stage. Contestants will compete for prizes in four categories for prizes, plus all pets will compete for the grand prize of $500, sponsored by Wilson’s Estate Jewelry. Registration for this annual benefit is only a $30 donation per pet. All proceeds benefit Street Tails Animal Rescue in their mission to help homeless and unwanted animals in the Philadelphia area.
