Flight On Ice Heads To Delaware County With Festive Outdoor Ice Skating Rink

Flight on Ice is gliding into Delaware County with a giant outdoor ice skating rink and winter village that will pop-up in Newtown Square. Four Philadelphia region business partners and friends are bringing a festive winter village to Delaware County, in an area next to Bonefish Grill, at 4889 West Chester Pike. Flight on Ice will bring with it ice skating, festive lighting and decor, light dining, hot cocoa, special events and lots of outdoor fun. This brand-new, full-sized ice rink will debut just in time for the holiday season, and it will run through at least February of 2022. Break out those mittens, sweaters and scarves, and get ready to lace up your skates! All ages and experience levels are welcome. There will also be plenty of fun for those that don’t skate but who want to come out with their friends and family. Additional details, and a roster of special events, and individual ticket sales will be posted in late November after Thanksgiving. In the meantime, season passes are now on sale for $99.99 and family four session passes are on sale for $39.99. Flight on Ice presents the Veterans Memorial Rink with a portion of proceeds to benefit and support local veterans. “Working with the deBotton family, Visit Delco and all of our great community partners has made it possible to bring a ‘real’ ice skating rink concept to Newtown Square,”said Flight Entertainment President and Managing Partner Jon Schaffer. “As a lifelong resident and business owner in Delaware County, supporting a great cause and operating in my own backyard makes this extra special to me. In an effort to celebrate and make Delco better than ever, we hope to raise significant funds from our rink proceeds to benefit local veterans. On behalf of myself, my family, my partners and my amazing Flight team, we are super excited about launching our first season and we hope to make this an annual tradition that we can all enjoy for years to come. ”

“Now, more than ever, we are proud to be a part of Delaware County and are thrilled to allow Flight on Ice to build the ice-skating rink on our property for the enjoyment of the community,” said Paul deBotton, rink land owner and chair at the Veterans War Memorial. “We wish to thank everyone who helped make this happen. As with the Delaware County Veterans War Memorial, it is my hope that this location will unite family and friends.”

“Visit Delco, PA is extremely excited to be partnering with Flight Entertainment and bringing this outdoor skating rink to Delaware County,” said Visit Delco Executive Director Steve Byrne. “With what everyone has been through the last 18 months, we look forward to welcoming people to come and enjoy the atmosphere. This rink will not only attract locals, but also visitors from outside the area and fulfill our mission to bring revenue into the county. It will accommodate families and friends of all ages. And the best part is that portions of the proceeds will go to the Delaware County Veterans War Memorial to help with their endowment.”

When opened, Flight on Ice will feature a 60’x100’ full sized outdoor skating rink as its centerpiece, surrounded by food, drink, shopping and vibes. When it opens, visitors can enjoy a safe, outdoor gathering spot that will be the perfect family day out, date night spot, and place to catch up on winter fitness. Great for aficionados and newbies alike, ice skating is a classic winter delight. Flight on Ice will have skate rentals available, to make it easy for guests. Once the session ticket is up, guests can take a break from skating to enjoy nearby restaurants and retailers to make it a full day experience. Flight on Ice is only 20 minutes from Philadelphia and many spots on the Main Line and Western Suburbs - making it a great destination for day-trippers!

On top of ice skating, visitors will be able to warm up in the heated hospitality tent, perfect for relaxing with friends and family after a skate session. There their taste buds will be tempted with a full menu of sweet and savory treats, and more from local restaurant partners. On top of food and drink, look for merchandise and shopping, winter and holiday vibes, and great music to keep you in the holiday spirit.

Flight on Ice can also host holiday gatherings and private events at the 6,000 square foot rink, as well as in the hospitality tent that can hold up to 100 people. Get ready to make magical memories with family, friends, classmates and co-workers!

The timing of Flight on Ice’s debut in December makes it the perfect holiday destination. After Christmas and New Year’s, the rink will remain open through February to allow people to soak up the fun all winter long.

During the duration of the pop-up, look for special events and programming for Christmas Week, Winter Break Week, New Year’s Eve, Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day and President’s Week. A ribbon cutting and opening ceremony is planned for mid-December, as well as a special media preview.

Additionally, the rink will create seasonal employment opportunities for individuals in need of extra income around the holiday season. In many ways, this rink will be a fantastic addition to our holiday season here in Delaware County.”
