Chef Jose Garces Announces Grand Opening Of Buena Onda Rittenhouse As Part Of National Expansion

James Beard award-winner and Iron Chef Jose Garces announces the grand opening of Buena Onda in Rittenhouse Square on Friday, August 12th. The new location is located at 114 S. 20th Street, next to Chef's famed Village Whiskey. Buena Onda is Chef's famed taqueria that is inspired by the spirit and good vibes of Mexico's Baja Peninsula. The new Rittenhouse location features indoor and outdoor seating for 48 guests, Baja-inspired vibes, a new interior design, and a new Buena Onda marketplace. Buena Onda Rittenhouse represents not just a new restaurant and concept for Center City and Rittenhouse, but this is the first location to debut as part of a larger national expansion. Buena Onda will also open a location on the Main Line this September. Additionally, this location is one of the models for franchising of the Philly-born brand that will expand from Philadelphia to America. Each new location will offer Buena's signature dishes such as environmentally conscious seafood tacos, classic tacos, Buena bowls, nachos, guacamole, chips and salsa, rice and beans, churros and many other offerings. 2nd Street Festival Returns to Northern Liberties with Music, Food Trucks, Family Fun and More

Philadelphia's largest neighborhood summer festival is back and bigger than ever! The 13th Annual 2nd Street Festival will pop-up and take over Northern Liberties on Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 12:00pm Noon to 9:00pm. This year the event will extend to the largest footprint in the event's history, along N. 2nd Street from Spring Garden extending all the way to Girard clocking in at more than three-quarters of a mile long. The all-ages celebration includes restaurants, food trucks, beer gardens, family fun, live music, artists, pop-up shops and entertainment. Street food and summertime sips will be available from a giant list of 50+ restaurants, bars, breweries and food trucks, including 15 outdoor beer and cocktail gardens. Feed the Giraffes in Brand New Experience at Philadelphia Zoo

Philadelphia Zoo (3400 West Girard) is thrilled to announce the opening of Giraffe Encounter. This brand new, hands-on experience brings visitors eye-to-eye with the three tallest residents of America's first Zoo. Participants will have a chance to feed the Zoo's giraffe family, which includes Stella, Abigail and Bea. The newly enhanced add-on to the giraffe exhibit will debut on Thursday, July 7th. Giraffe Encounter is available daily from 10:00am to 12:00pm Noon and 1:00pm to 4:00pm. This new encounter is only $6 for general admission holders, $5 for Individual, Dual, Family and Family Plus Members, and $5 for Family Deluxe Members. Tickets are available inside the Zoo only, in African Plains, through a QR code. Guest can feed the giraffe their favorite treat of browse to enjoy. The giraffe's 18 inch tongues move very fast, so have those cameras charged, on and ready!

FCM Hospitality and Philadelphia Flyers Join Forces for Pride Month with Cocktails for a Cause

In celebration of Philly Gay Pride Month, FCM Hospitality teams p with the Philadelphia Flyers and Flyers Charities to raise money for four local LGBTQ+ organizations. Cocktails for a Cause will be featured at 11 different locations throughout the city including The Garden at Cherry Street Pier, The Dolphin, Morgan's Pier, Craft Hall, Parks on Tap, Rosy's Taco Bar, Harper's Garden, Lola's Garden, Concourse Dance Bar and Juno. Each property will offer a drink that matches a color of the all-inclusive LGBTQ rainbow flag with $1 from each rainbow drink going towards donations to William Way LGBT Community Center, Attic Youth Center, Philly Asian Queer, and Galaei. Throughout the month of June and as part of the ‘Cocktails for a Cause’ campaign, the Flyers will have their own specialty cocktail, the “Flyers Rowdy ‘Rita,” available exclusively at Liberty Point, with proceeds benefiting local LGBTQ+ organizations. As part of the month-long effort, Flyers Charities will match FCM’s $1 donation up to $10,000 for every Flyers Rowdy ‘Rita sold at Liberty Point during June. The Flyers Rowdy ‘Rita will be a spin on a mango margarita (tequila, triple sec, orange, mango lime) and will be sold at Liberty Point all month long. The first-ever Cocktails for a Cause Pride Party and Kick-Off event will take place on Thursday, June 9 at Liberty Point from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Philadelphia Flyers and Flyers Charities will be on hand with Gritty (6:00pm) and other fun surprises. This is the one and only event that will feature all 11 cocktails, plus Flyers' fun, DJ and other surprises.

Kensington Derby and Arts Festival Brings Back Mud, Live Music, Food Trucks and Vendors

Fishtown District announces the return of the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Kensington Derby and Arts Festival on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. One of Philadelphia's largest spring festivals is back after a pandemic break and ready to take over Trenton Avenue from Norris Street to Frankford Avenue. The fourteenth year for this event will feature over 100+ local vendors, artists, musicians, food and drink, performers - and a parade of homemade vehicles. Derby competitors are encouraged to wear costumes and make it to the finish line in their human-powered vehicles and floats. Over 15,000 people are expected to come out and cheer them on along the three mile obstacle course that stretches through East Kensington and Fishtown. Mud, bubbles and other obstacles along the route will be presented by some of the District's biggest names, including Johnny Brenda's, Philadelphia Brewing Co., and Kensington Community Food Co-Op. Winners will be crowned in categories that have ranged over the years like Best Art, Best Costume, Best Engineering, Best Breakdown, Media Choice and, of course, the highly coveted Judge's Choice Award. Inis Nua Theatre Presents American Premiere of Finding Fassbender at Philadelphia's Drake Theatre

Inis Nua Theatre presents the American Premiere of FINDING FASSBENDER, a solo show from actor turned playwright Lydia Larson. When Eve gets a promotion, she moves to London in the hopes of having a glamorous big city life. But soon she discovers that being one in 9 million can be pretty lonely. Feeling at her lowest, a lifeline comes to Eve in the form of a letter for her apartment’s former tenant – Hollywood actor Michael Fassbender. Now all Eve has to do is return this letter to the rightful owner! The production will be directed by Barrymore Award-nominated director and Inis Nua Founder and Artistic Director Tom Reing. Previews begin Wednesday, February 9, with opening night on Friday, February 11. The show runs through February 27, 2022 for a total of 15 performances. All performances will take place at the Louis Bluver Theatre at the Drake, 302 South Hicks Street. Tickets are $15 - $30.
