Theatre Philadelphia announces the return of Philly Theatre Week featuring hundreds of theatrical performances across the region between April 1-10, 2022. The ten day festival will showcase the talents of 64 organizations with 85 shows and events. This fifth annual celebration showcases the vibrant and diverse theatre scene in the tri-state region, while shedding a light on the theatre community’s resilience through the pandemic. Events include a variety of live and virtual performances and workshops, theatre-by-mail and chatroom, and exclusive ticket pre-sales, showcasing theatre across the Greater Philadelphia region with shows in Philadelphia, Delaware, South Jersey, Bucks County, and the Main Line and Western Suburbs. Inis Nua Theatre presents the American Premiere of FINDING FASSBENDER, a solo show from actor turned playwright Lydia Larson. When Eve gets a promotion, she moves to London in the hopes of having a glamorous big city life. But soon she discovers that being one in 9 million can be pretty lonely. Feeling at her lowest, a lifeline comes to Eve in the form of a letter for her apartment’s former tenant – Hollywood actor Michael Fassbender. Now all Eve has to do is return this letter to the rightful owner! The production will be directed by Barrymore Award-nominated director and Inis Nua Founder and Artistic Director Tom Reing. Previews begin Wednesday, February 9, with opening night on Friday, February 11. The show runs through February 27, 2022 for a total of 15 performances. Philadelphia Theaters to Require Audiences To Be Vaccinated or Provide Negative COVID Test

The curtain is finally rising again! Dozens of regional theatres are back in full-swing preparing for their grand return to the stage for in-person, indoor productions. The upcoming 2021-2022 season is coming to life just as continuing COVID-19 variants continue to be an on-going cause for concern. For the protection of audiences and theatre workers, Theatre Philadelphia has developed and issued a new Audience COVID-19 Vaccine and Mask Policy for the start of the new season. Over 30 area theatres have already joined Theatre Philadelphia in signing on to the new policy. The policy includes asking theatre audiences to be fully vaccinated or provide a negative COVID-19 test taken within a certain time period ahead of showtime. Audiences will also be required to wear masks following the current policy of the City of Philadelphia for indoor theatre performances where all audiences are not vaccinated. Additionally, twelve area theatres have gone a step farther and will only allow patrons that are fully vaccinated.

Theatre Philadelphia, the region’s theatre marketing and leadership organization, announces Theatre Philadelphia Emergency Relief as a response to the needs of the region’s theatre workers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting with a pool of $145,000, Theatre Philadelphia will award micro-grants of $300 on a first-come-first-serve basis to theatre workers impacted by COVID-19 closures and cancellations. Eligible applicants should live within a 35-mile radius of Philadelphia’s City Hall and work in any creative, technical, service, or administrative capacity in theatre. Applications open on Monday, April 13th.
