Theatre Philadelphia Announces 4th Annual Philly Theatre Week With 11 Days, 64 Companies And 72 Events

Curtains up. Theatre Philadelphia proudly announces the return of Philly Theatre Week from April 22 to May 2, 2021. After a year of dark stages, millions in lost ticket sales and thousands of lost jobs, the Philadelphia theatre scene will rise again after the pandemic shut-downs with 11 days, 64 organizations, 72 events, and hundreds of performances. This fourth year celebration will showcase the strength, resilience, talent and diversity of the tri-state region’s theatre scene through virtual and in-person shows that will be hosted in every corner of Philadelphia, and in the Philadelphia suburbs, Delaware and South Jersey. Events will include a variety of live and pre-recorded virtual performances, panels, workshops, theatre-by-mail, audio plays and in-person outdoor events. All tickets for participating shows are specially priced to be accessible to all, with tickets being free, $15 or $30 each.

Inis Nua Theatre Company Presents American Premiere Of Swallow By Stef Smith April 26 To May 14, 2017

Inis Nua Theatre Company ends the 2016-2017 mainstage season with the American premiere of Swallow by Stef Smith. From Scotland, Swallow follows three lives intricately connected and the quiet, traumatic struggles of being human. Swallow was a 2015 Fringe First Winner and received the Scottish Arts Club Theatre Award. The Scotsman called the play, “An elegant and glowing piece of twenty-first century magic realism.” Swallow opens at the Proscenium Theater at The Drake (302 South Hicks Street) on April 28th, with preview performances on April 26th and 27th.

Inis Nua Theatre Company Presents American Premiere Of Leper + Chip By Lee Coffey February 15 To March 5, 2017

Inis Nua Theatre Company jumps into 2017 with the raucous, fast-paced and heartful Leper + Chip, an American premiere by Lee Coffey at the Louis Bluver Theater at The Drake (203 South Hicks Street). Leper + Chip opens on Friday, February 17 at 8:00 pm, with previews on Wednesday, February 15, and Thursday, February 16, at 7:00 pm. Inis Nua Theatre Company Brings Philadelphia Premiere of Penelope to Prince Music Theater

Spring will be sprung (loose) when Inis Nua Theatre Company presents Penelope by Enda Walsh at the Prince Music Theater (1412 Chestnut Street). This dark comedy takes us into the world of Homer’s The Odyssey by the back door, or maybe it’s a trap door, as we fall into a part of the story that’s never been told before. Penelope awaits the return of her husband, Odysseus, from the Trojan war. Four suitors are locked in a do-or-die competition to win her love at a barbecue unlike any you have ever seen. Will the great warrior return and slay his rivals, or will one of these self-proclaimed poets convince her to turn to a new love?

Penelope opens on Friday, April 10 at 8:00pm, with previews on Wednesday, April 8 and Thursday, April 9 at 7:00pm. Penelope runs for a total of 16 performances, through April 26, 2015. Tickets are on sale for $25 and $30 by calling (215) 454-9776 or visiting inisnuatheatre.org.
