Azuka Theatre Kicks off 2017-2018 Season with World Premiere of The Gap by Emma Goidel

Azuka Theatre kicks off their 18th season with the world premiere of The Gap by Emma Goidel. Rebecca Wright directs this dark comedy and mystery that centers around family secrets, performing, and sisterhood. Audiences will ask themselves, what's ultimately worse: forgetting or remembering? Presented in the Louis Bluver Theatre at The Drake, The Gap previews begin Wednesday, November 1, opens on Saturday, November 4 and runs through November 19, 2017. All tickets for The Gap and other shows this season are Pay What You Decide, whereas audience members see a show first, and pay what they decide after the performance. Racial And Sexual Tensions Ignite In Philadelphia Premiere Of Buzzer By Tracey Scott Wilson Presented By Theatre Exile From May 4-28th

After a sold-out run for Lost Girls, Theatre Exile closes their 20th anniversary season with Buzzer by Tracey Scott Wilson. Gentrification comes to a head as the thought-provoking social drama fans the flames of love, race, class and privilege. This Philadelphia premiere explores the effects of a changing neighborhood on three 20-somethings that share a long and winding history -- and a not-so-certain future. Buzzer is directed by Exile’s Associate Artistic Director Matt Pfeiffer and features Akeem Davis, Alex Keiper, Matteo Scammell. The show is presented with support from Honorary Producers Linda and David Glickstein, Associate Producer Gayle Smith, and Season Sponsor Bruce and Giuliana Zallie of Zallie’s ShopRite Supermarkets.

Inis Nua Theatre Company Presents American Premiere Of Swallow By Stef Smith April 26 To May 14, 2017

Inis Nua Theatre Company ends the 2016-2017 mainstage season with the American premiere of Swallow by Stef Smith. From Scotland, Swallow follows three lives intricately connected and the quiet, traumatic struggles of being human. Swallow was a 2015 Fringe First Winner and received the Scottish Arts Club Theatre Award. The Scotsman called the play, “An elegant and glowing piece of twenty-first century magic realism.” Swallow opens at the Proscenium Theater at The Drake (302 South Hicks Street) on April 28th, with preview performances on April 26th and 27th.

Following five Barrymore wins, Theatre Exile continues their 20th anniversary season with Lost Girls by John Pollono. This hard-hitting drama is the story of three generations of women struggling to rise above their limited prospects, in a world indifferent to their struggles, to prevent history from repeating itself. The show is directed by Exile’s Founding Artistic Director Joe Canuso and features an ensemble cast with Catharine Slusar, Trevor William Fayle, Sean Bradley, Molly Ward, Amy Frear and Susanne Collins.
