One of South Philadelphia's most beloved Italian festivals is back.  The Annual St. Nicholas of Tolentine Authentic Italian Festival returns on Sunday, October 6th to the 1700 block of South 9th Street. Last year thousands of people returned to the street to celebrate the event's post pandemic return with white, red and green confetti flying in the air. This year's event aims to be even bigger and better! This beloved tradition with roots back to the early 1900s returns to South Philadelphia with a full day of Italian music, food, dancing and traditions that bring out the hearts and appetites of the local community.

The 12th Annual Roxtoberfest will be held on Saturday, October 5th from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, with a rain date set for Sunday, October 6th. The beloved signature festival brings together the best of family-friendly fall harvest celebrations paired with the traditional feel of a German beer fest including live music, local beer, 100+ vendors, food and drink, food trucks, pet costume contest, Oktoberfest costume contest, cemetary tours, family fun and more. This year, look for the addition of a new Star Trek themed Spocktoberfest with performances by the Roddenberries, a cosplay costume contest and a Star Trek themed vendor marketplace. Also new this year, look for the addition of a Scarecrow Walk and voting for best scarecrow in partnership with Friends of Gorgas Park.  Roxtoberfest will take place on Ridge Avenue between Lyceum Avenue and Leverington Avenue, with a Scarecrow Walk extending from Leverington Avenue to Hermitage Street, connecting the family fun at Gorgas Park. Brauhaus Schmitz, located at 718 South Street, will bring the sights, sounds and tastes of Munich to the Philadelphia region at three of Pennsylvania and South Jersey's largest Oktoberfest celebrations. Get ready to raise a liter and dance in the street as South Street Oktoberfest returns for its 16th year on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 12:00pm to 8:00pm, on the 700 block of South Street.  The all-day, all-ages celebration will attract nearly 10,000 people and feature covered seating for over 1,000 people, live Oom-pah music all day, German dancers, the liter lift competition, a dozen German beers, signature Bavarian dishes, face painting, outdoor games, family fun and much more. One week later, the 7th Annual Oktoberfest on the Square takes over the Haddon Square Pop Up Garden (51 Haddon Ave, Westmont, NJ) on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from Noon to 10:00pm. Considered the largest Oktoberfest in South Jersey, this event brings together Brauhaus Schmitz and Keg & Kitchen for a celebration with a giant tent, blue and white Bavarian decorations, imported tables and benches, giant steins of German bier, a pig roast, and other German specialty dishes, plus live music from Maria and John Band. Two weeks later, they saved the best for last as one of the most authentic celebrations in the United States returns with the 6th Annual 23rd Street Armory Oktoberfest, on Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12, 2024, with three afternoon and evening sessions. Philly Pride 365: A Program of Galaei invites the entire LGBTQ+ to celebrate Pride 2024: Be You at the Philadelphia Pride March and Festival on Sunday, June 2, 2024.  This year's theme is inspired by the 55th anniversary of Stonewall. After 55 years of struggle, striving, progress, and overcoming, Philly Pride 365 a program of Galaei encourages the LGBTQ+ community to come out, celebrate, and “BE YOU” on June 2nd 2024, and throughout the year!  The Pride March will form and organize at 6th and Walnut at 10:30am and end in the Philadelphia Gayborhood. Watch for the largest rainbow pride flag in America, this year expanded to 400 feet long. All LGBTQ communities and allies are welcome to join the march, with no registration required. Floats and vehicles are not permitted. When the march reaches the Gayborhood, the festival will begin, running from 12:00pm to 7:00pm, on Walnut to Pine streets, and Quince to Juniper streets, with other select roads closed around the festival footprint. The festival will feature over 200 small businesses and organizations, performers, entertainers, artists, vendors, local bars, food trucks, community organizations, stages and much more. The march and festival is open to all to attend with no admission - and all food and drink are pay-as-you-go. Philadelphia Pride March and Festival are a proud part of Philly Gay Pride Month.

East Kensington’s long-time parade and arts festival is moving over to Frankford Avenue. Fishtown District, with support from Penn Treaty Special Services District, presents Kensington Derby and Arts Fest on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, on Frankford Avenue, from York St to Huntingdon St. The event, which won Best of Philly in 2023, is back and ready to let the mud fly! Derby teams prepare human-powered sculptures crafted from recycled bicycles and other materials and ride their contraptions through various obstacles ending with a spectacular mud-pit finish at the arts festival grounds. Winners are then crowned in categories that have ranged over the years like Best Art, Best Costume, Best Engineering, Media Choice and Judge’s Choice. The parade is free to participate, open to all ages and abilities with a bike, helmet, and pun-y team name.
