Chef Jose Garces Announces Grand Opening Of Buena Onda Rittenhouse As Part Of National Expansion

James Beard award-winner and Iron Chef Jose Garces announces the grand opening of Buena Onda in Rittenhouse Square on Friday, August 12th. The new location is located at 114 S. 20th Street, next to Chef's famed Village Whiskey. Buena Onda is Chef's famed taqueria that is inspired by the spirit and good vibes of Mexico's Baja Peninsula. The new Rittenhouse location features indoor and outdoor seating for 48 guests, Baja-inspired vibes, a new interior design, and a new Buena Onda marketplace. Buena Onda Rittenhouse represents not just a new restaurant and concept for Center City and Rittenhouse, but this is the first location to debut as part of a larger national expansion. Buena Onda will also open a location on the Main Line this September. Additionally, this location is one of the models for franchising of the Philly-born brand that will expand from Philadelphia to America. Each new location will offer Buena's signature dishes such as environmentally conscious seafood tacos, classic tacos, Buena bowls, nachos, guacamole, chips and salsa, rice and beans, churros and many other offerings. Garces fans can also pair their favorite dishes with drinks that will include margaritas (classic, baja, frozen and seasonal), beer, wine, sangria, sodas and more.

The Balcony Bar at The Kimmel Center Returns with Stunning Views, Summer Sips, DJs and More

The Kimmel Cultural Campus, Chef Jose Garces and Garces Events are pleased to announce the return of Balcony Bar at The Kimmel. Starting June 15th, The Balcony Bar will feature the city's most breath-taking views each and every Wednesday, from 4:30pm to 7:00pm, for Center City SIPS. The pop-up space, located on the second-tier balcony of the Kimmel Center, overlooks iconic Broad Street and City Hall. Guests will enjoy the city's best views, plus beats from weekly rotating DJs, ticket giveaways, discounted drinks and happy hour bites. SliCE and Steven Singer Jewelers Team Up for Valentine's with Heart-Shaped Pizzas and Gold-Dipped Roses

Two local small businesses are teaming up with the most unique Valentine's Day gifts in the region. Steven Singer Jewelers returns for Valentine's with their signature 24 kt. gold-dipped roses, including a new color with Emerald City Green. Singer is open at their location at 739 Walnut with special Valentine's Weekend hours. SliCE is also taking orders and delivering heart-shaped pizza grams now through Valentine's Day in Fishtown, Northern Liberties, Center City, South Philly, University City and Washington Township. Together, the two have joined forces and Singer is donating part of the proceeds from Valentine's gold-dipped rose sales to support SliCE and feed over 750 health heroes and frontline staff heart-shaped pizzas this week at both Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Pennsylvania Hospital. On Valentine's Day itself the two will again team up and three lucky heart gram recipients will find a special gold-dipped rose with their heart-shaped pizza.

A Magical Night of Mystery and Deception Debuts at the Speakeasy at Vesper Center City

Vesper Center City announces the debut of Deceptions: A Magical Night of Mystery and Deception featuring the many talents of Mervant the Deceptionist. After pivoting during the pandemic, Mervant has become a top celebrity on AirBnb where he booked over 700 virtual performances. Now, he will take his show live and in-person with help from Glu Hospitality and producers Smoke and Mirrors. This new performance experience will take place in Vesper's hidden speakeasy every Thursday and every Saturday night at 6:30pm, with doors opening at 6:00pm, starting November 18th and 20th. Audiences should come ready to be dazzled with a combination of illusion, deception and mentalism. Center City's largest and most celebrated beer garden is back! Craft Concepts Group and Teddy Sourias announce the return of Uptown Beer Garden at a new permanent and year-round home at 1500 JFK Boulevard. The picturesque urban oasis comes complete with stunning views, expanded menus, additional shading, lush greenery, original artwork, more dining space and even bigger vibes. The 18,000+ square foot space offers seating for 350 guests and private event space for up to 700 guests. Chef Craig Meyers and his culinary team will fire up the menu using the concerted giant food truck that is now installed in Uptown's central garden. Harper's Garden And Morgan's Pier Opens Reservations In Anticipation Of Outdoor Dining

Two of Philadelphia's most celebrated outdoor restaurants will be the first in the region to take reservations for outdoor dining. In anticipation of news allowing outdoor dining in Philadelphia from the state of Pennsylvania, FCM Hospitality announces that Harper's Garden and Morgan's Pier will return this summer and open for seating on Friday, June 5th. Both restaurants have opened up reservations for that day and beyond, which coincides with when Philadelphia county will enter the yellow phase of the state's reopening plans. Harper's Garden will also update the layout and nearly double in size for outdoor seating in preparation for social distancing protocols that will be put into place. Morgan's Pier will also increase the footprint of outdoor dining and add side-walk seating on Columbus Boulevard.

Jane Guo and Jackson Fu announced the grand opening of Dim Sum House by Jane G’s at 1930 Chestnut Street February 20, 2020 opening at 11:30am. The mother-son duo, who also operate Dim Sum House in University City, will bring all-day, every-day dim sum in two styles to Center City and Rittenhouse Square. The expansive restaurant and bar will feature 4,000 square feet of space, with seating for 120 inside and 20 outside. From the kitchen, guests will enjoy a menu that focuses on two authentic styles of Chinese dim sum (Shanghai and Cantonese), plus fried rice, noodles, chef specialties and familiar Chinese favorites from the Jiang Nan region of China. Notable favorites include Dim Sum House’s celebrated Pork Soup Dumplings, Dan Dan Noodles, Roast Pork Bao, Peking Duck, Pork Belly & Mustard Greens, Hot and Sour Soup, and Norwegian Whole King Crab done three ways, which currently is around $450 market price for 8 lbs.

Philadelphia Theatre Company Presents The Premiere Of Everything Is Wonderful

Philadelphia Theatre Company continues its 45th Anniversary season with a perceptive drama about forgiveness set in Amish Country in Pennsylvania. PTC is thrilled to begin the year with the Philadelphia Premiere of Chelsea Marcantel’s The Kilroys List Honorable Mention pick, Everything is Wonderful. Directed by Noah Himmelstein, who directed this play at the Everyman Theatre in Baltimore last year, this beautiful new work about a nearby community runs February 14-March 8, 2020. Glu Hospitality, owners of Vesper Center City, Vesper Dayclub and Germantown Garden, announce the grand opening of Leda and The Swan at 1224 Chestnut Street, in Philadelphia's thriving Midtown Village neighborhood. For Leda, Glu principles Derek Gibbons and Tim Lu present a new cocktail and music hideaway for the culturally curious.
