Chef Jose Garces Introduces Phila Lorn at Next Chef in Residency at Volver at Kimmel Center

Chef Jose Garces announces Chef Phila Lorn as the next Chef in Residency at Volvér on Kimmel Cultural Campus just in time for the holiday season. Chef Lorn's residency will run from December 1, 2021 to January 17, 2022. Funding will help support Chef's first restaurant that will soon showcase Cambodian food, music and culture. Currently, Chef Lorn is working at Terrain Glen Mills and he recently was a special guest chef at Stina in South Philly. Lorn's menu will include nearly ten items, and include Crispy Soft Shell Shrimp, Pleah, Crab Summer Rolls, Banh Chow Crepe Salad, Steak and Chimichurri, Roasted Hamachi Collar, Mawn 'Pho Don', and more. For the new Chefs in Residency Program, each Chef will showcase their top signature dishes on the Volvér menu for six to eight weeks, alongside Chef Garces' signature French-inspired dishes. Through a special donation program in partnership with the Garces Foundation, each Chef in Residency will have the opportunity to raise money to support their work with their current restaurant, or to use for the start of their next culinary journey.

Bridget Foy will return to 2nd and South (200 South) for the first time since the devastating fire in 2017 that saw the family restaurant and neighborhood corner hub close down and get destroyed. Bridget Foy's - the new Bridget Foy's - was expected to open as a surprise to Philly this week. However, with indoor dining closing and the pandemic numbers increasing this didn't make sense and as sad as it as after working round the clock this year on top to bottom construction (everything was lost in the fire) they now have pushed the opening to February/March and indoor dining returns - plus outdoor comes back in nicer weather. Today's opening comes despite the snow, as they are eager to get back to work at 2nd and South - and what not better way to celebrate a festive outdoor restaurant then with heaters, hot drinks, covered tables and flakes in the air - plus $5 snow day specials.

South Street Spring Festival Kicks Off Philadelphia's Summer Season with Music, Food, Drinks, Family Fun, Art, Shopping and More on Saturday, May 2, 2015

South Street Spring Festival is ready to rock with the Philadelphia’s best sounds, tastes, sips, shopping and sights on Saturday, May 2, 2015, from 11:00AM to 8:00PM. This giant free, all-ages outdoor block party will close down South Street (between Front and 8th) and run along Headhouse Plaza (between South and Lombard).

More than 30 eateries, bars and food trucks will serve signature and special dishes and drinks under the blue skies. More than 40 bands will rock three stages and seven performance areas. Headhouse Plaza will be transformed into a giant lawn concert complete with grass, lawn chairs, games and beachballs. Twenty-seven artists will sell their handmade wares and crafts. Children of all ages will enjoy free family fun in the expanded Kids Zone. Over 100 boutiques, small businesses and other other retailers will cater to your style, beauty, health, fitness and other shopping needs. In conjunction with the Festival, Brauhaus Schmitz will host the second annual German Maifest on the 700 block of South Street, with German beers, dancers, music, food, flower headbands and even a Maypole.  Outside of Atomic City Comics (638 South Street) look for free giveaways and character appearances during Free Comic Book Day.
