Restaurateurs Chris Fetfatzes and Heather Annechiarico announce the grand opening of Pivot Coffee and Soupery at 738 S. 11th Street, this Thursday, December 17, 2020, at 7:00am sharp. The husband-wife duo behind popular concepts Hawthornes, Wine Dive, Tio Flores, Quick Sip, The Cambridge and soon-to-open Grace and Proper, present their first-ever full service coffee and espresso shop, soupery, bake shop and wine shop - all rolled into one. With indoor dining closed at the moment, and it being months before Hawthornes would see indoor dining back to full 100% capacity, the couple looked ahead and wanted to Pivot with their new coffee shop - which comes complete with a new pastry chef, an expanded streetery, Igloo bubble outdoor dining, and a full special menu for Christmas and the holidays.

Garces Trading Company will officially make a grand return and debut this week as a brand-new, advanced ghost kitchen, restaurant hub and online marketplace. Fans of Chef Jose Garces will be able to order, for the first time ever, their favorite dishes from iconic restaurant brands such as Amada, The Olde Bar and Village Whiskey - all in one order and from one location for pick-up, take-out and delivery. When indoor dining shut down city restaurants this past week, Garces has consolidated all restaurant kitchens into one giant ghost kitchen and hub that will now operate out of The Olde Bar in Old City District. Patrons will be able to order, with one click of a button, their Garces favorites like The Olde Bar's Crab Cake, Jeff's Fried Chicken, and Crab and Corn Chowder; Amada's Pulpo a la Gallega, Albondigas and Jamon Serrano; and Village Whiskey's Village Burger, Baby Back Ribs, Golden Hot Wings and the new Bing Crosby Burger of the Month.

Philadelphia Zoo Introduces Baby Giraffe Named Bea Who Is Eight Feet Tall and 1,000 Lbs

Philadelphia Zoo is thrilled to welcome a new addition to its family, Bea, a 15-month-old female giraffe, that arrived on November 20th from Knoxville Zoo in Tennessee. Since her arrival, Bea has been getting adjusted to her new keepers and met her new herd mates 18-year-old, Stella and 11-year-old Abigail. All are settling in well, and keepers are giving Bea her own space overnight which offers some independence and quiet time.

Northern Liberties Business Improvement District kicks off the holiday season with the debut of Northern Liberties Holiday Pop-up, starting on Black Friday for two weekends, November 27th-29th and December 3rd-6th, from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. This brand-new socially-distanced holiday shopping event will feature 15+ small local businesses and makers from around the Philadelphia region popping up with gifts, decor, fashions, treats and more in eight retail locations along N. 2nd Street. From French Toast Bites, to Christmas trees and ornaments, bridal wear to baguettes, there will be something for everyone on Santa’s holiday shopping list. Philadelphia Zoo has lit up three of the enormous 80-foot-tall trees at the Main Plaza with dazzling blue lights to thank the frontline. The new light display on the trees and front entrance buildings at 34th and Girard are illuminated with the goal of ringing in the holidays while also thanking healthcare workers and first responders during the global pandemic. Ardmore Celebrates The Holidays With Rally For Restaurants, Tree Lighting, And Santa Claus

Celebrate holidays on the Main Line with a month of festive offerings in Downtown Ardmore starting on Black Friday and running through December 23rd. The downtown business community kicks off the holidays with the Ardmore Holiday Kick-Off and Tree Lighting on Black Friday, November 27th, at 5:00pm. Ardmore Initiative, Ardmore Business Association and sponsor PECO will live stream Santa's arrival and the lighting of the Christmas Tree with special guest Cinderella by A Dash of Magic. The thirty minute program will feature a surprise entrance for Jolly Ole St. Nick himself, songs by everyone's favorite princess Cinderella presented by A Dash of Magic Events, and remarks by local dignitaries. The Holiday Rally for Ardmore Restaurants and Retail will then start on Small Business Saturday, November 28th and run through December 23rd.
