Inis Nua Theatre Company Partners With Drexel For Revival Of Dublin By Lamplight

Inis Nua Theatre Company will team up with Drexel University’s Mandell Professionals in Residence Project (MPiRP) to present a revival of Dublin by Lamplight by Michael West. Inis Nua’s breakout hit from 2011 will be remounted with some familiar names, a grand two-level stage, and the talents of co-op students working side-by-side with the professional actors. Using commedia dell’arte make-up stylings and Storytellers theatre, the cast of six will portray 40 different characters in the fast-paced tale about the launch of the Irish National Theatre. Dublin by Lamplight runs November 9 to 20th at Drexel’s Mandell Theater (3201 Chestnut Street).

Cinder Announces Executive Chef And Menu Preview Ahead Of November Opening

Teddy Sourias of Craft Concepts (BRU Craft & Wurst, U-Bahn, Uptown Beer Garden, Finn McCool's Ale House) announces three bell-rated chef Jonathan Petruce will serve as Executive Chef at Cinder, coming to 1500 Locust Street. Petruce recently worked with Craft Concepts as the pop-up chef for the summer at Uptown Beer Garden. The first draft of Petruce's menu will include elevated versions of casual favorites - and including Al Pastor Pizza, Pistachio Pizza and Saison Mussels. As the kitchen team takes shapes, construction enters final phases and staff training begins, look for Sourias to announce this week a final opening date - which should be for early to mid November. Valley Forge Casino Resort Announces Grand Opening of Revolution Chop House

Valley Forge Casino Resort (1160 First Avenue) announces the opening of Revolution Chop House on Friday, October 14, 2016. Chef Les Bender will debut a menu focusing on classic and big cuts of steak, chops and seafood, with classic steakhouse appetizers, salads, soups, sides and desserts. Revolution Chop House's menu will also feature a revolving menu section where Chef and his culinary team will spotlight seasonal and innovative preparations and showcase use of seasonal and specialized local ingredients. The full service bar will feature specialty cocktails with revolving seasonal flavors that also pay homage to the revolutionary history of the Valley Forge region. The 4,400-square-foot space will seat up to 244 people in the main dining room, two private dining rooms, main bar and lounge area.

This exciting event, will give diners a sneak peek into impressive kitchens that work hard to support local farms, reduce waste and chemical usage, and leave the world a better place for future generations. 15%-30% of their sales that day will be donated to the Clean Air Council to support the organization’s work across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey.

Brauhaus Schmitz to Transform 23rd Street Armory into Philadelphia's Largest New Oktoberfest

Brauhaus Schmitz will transform the 16,000 square-foot 23rd Street Armory (22 S. 23rd St.) into the likeness of a Munich festival tent for the first annual 23rd Street Armory Oktoberfest on Friday, October 7-9, 2016. Decked out with Bavarian blue and white ceilings, authentic festival tables and benches imported from Germany plus a lofted stage area for musical acts like the Grammy-nominated Alex Meixner Band, Brauhaus will throw the trip-state region’s largest Oktoberfest celebration. Traditional food provided by Chef Jeremy Nolen and beer will be provided by the famous Hofbräuhaus will be served. Tickets are available for each of the five sessions for $45 general admission, or $65 VIP. With the most authentic German dancing, food, entertainment, beer and more this new festival is sure to be as amazing as Munich!

America’s First Higher-Education Circus School To Open In Philadelphia Fall 2017

Philadelphia, a city of many historic firsts, will take to the air and make history by being home to America’s first circus school providing a vocational diploma. Executive Director Shana Kennedy, from the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, unveiled plans for Circadium, School of Contemporary Circus, at a press conference outside the iconic Philadelphia Museum of Art. The full-time, three-year, non-profit training program will bring together circus students seeking higher education and professional training opportunities. Circadium will open in fall of 2017 in a new facility that will also become the new home for the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts. Negotiations for the purchase of the new facility are currently underway. A Kickstarter campaign for the new non-profit school was launched today, and seeks to raise $50,000 in start-up funds to support Circadium’s mission. The online application process for students is now open with a deadline of November 30, 2016. Students and future donors can learn more by visiting www.circadium.com.
