Philadelphia School of Circus Arts Celebrates Grand Opening with Free Circus Classes

The big top is on the move! Philadelphia School of Circus Arts announces the grand opening of a new 28,000-square-foot circus school and training studio at the former home of St. Madeleine Sophie Church (6452 Greene Street) in West Mt. Airy. Students from the tri-state region will soar to new heights in the sanctuary that boasts 40 foot tall ceilings, original brilliant stained glass windows and an observation gallery. One hundred weekly classes will be offered for adults and children, from beginner to advanced students, in aerials, juggling, unicycling, tightwire, tumbling, acrobatics and physical conditioning. The new facility will also be home to the history-making Circadium School of Contemporary Circus - the first state-licensed vocational circus school in the United States.

New Spring Break Camp Lets Children Run Off And Join The Circus

Philadelphia School of Circus Arts announces a brand new, full-day Spring Break Circus Camp for students looking to run off to the big top. Children (ages seven to fourteen) are invited to walk the wire, take to the air and juggle their creativity from 9:00am to 3:00pm, between April 10-14, 2017, at PSCA's studio (5900A Greene Street). America’s First Higher-Education Circus School To Open In Philadelphia Fall 2017

Philadelphia, a city of many historic firsts, will take to the air and make history by being home to America’s first circus school providing a vocational diploma. Executive Director Shana Kennedy, from the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, unveiled plans for Circadium, School of Contemporary Circus, at a press conference outside the iconic Philadelphia Museum of Art. The full-time, three-year, non-profit training program will bring together circus students seeking higher education and professional training opportunities. Circadium will open in fall of 2017 in a new facility that will also become the new home for the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts. Negotiations for the purchase of the new facility are currently underway. A Kickstarter campaign for the new non-profit school was launched today, and seeks to raise $50,000 in start-up funds to support Circadium’s mission. Philadelphia Artists' Collective and Philadelphia School of Circus Arts Bring Circus and Theater Together in He Who Gets Slapped

Behind the curtain of the big top, no one is laughing harder than the saddest clown of them all. Philadelphia Artists’ Collective, in partnership with Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, presents the Philadelphia premiere of He Who Gets Slapped, from March 30 to April 16, 2016, at Broad Street Ministry (315 S. Broad Street). A cast of clowns, lion-tamers and ringmasters perform their routines under a striped awning and glowing lights. When a new clown arrives, his cheerful makeup conceals a dark secret from his past. PAC’s Co-Founding Artistic Director Damon Bonetti directs an ensemble cast of familiar faces, who will perform their own circus skills with training from PSCA’s Circus Art / Movement Choreographer Terry Brennan.

9th Annual East Passyunk Car Show and Street Festival Returns with 140+ Cars, Food, Circus, Music and More

East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District (EPABID) is revving up for the 9th Annual Car Show and Street Festival on Sunday, July 27, 2014, from Noon to 5:00pm, on EPA between Broad and Dickinson streets. Over 140 muscle, classic, antique, custom and show cars, trucks and motorcycles will line Avenue, with circus performers, street vendors, rack sales, kids’ activities, live music and the Bang! Boom! CRAFT! Show in between. Wine and dine among the cars as award-winning restaurants and food trucks serve street food and summertime drinks. Admission is FREE for attendees and $15 for cars. Fly School Circus Arts Opens Philadelphia's First Flying Trapeze School

Fly School Circus Arts announces the opening of Philadelphia's first permanent outdoor flying trapeze school at 5th and Cecil B Moore, on the edge of Old and New Kensington. Two hour lessons for adults and children (ages six and up) will be available on weekdays and weekends, up to three times per day, now through early November. Fly School celebrates its first fall season in the city with "Fall Flying Fest" promotions, events and theme weekends. The high flying fun starts on grand opening weekend, October 4-6, 2013, with $5 off lessons, complimentary refreshments and an open house "beef and beer" on Saturday, October 5, from 3-5pm. Food will be provided by Nick's Roast Beef in Old City District.
