Be Merry (And Gay) On East Passyunk Avenue At Holiday QOTA LGBT Party

East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District invites you to come out for a merry and gay ole time at November's edition of the roving Queers on the Avenue (QOTA) party. QOTA Among the Trees takes over Urban Jungle (1526 East Passyunk Avenue) tomorrow night, on Thursday November 21, 2013, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Enjoy festive fun as you prance, mix and mingle among the spectacular holiday tree displays, still-green plants and festive decorations. Complimentary lite fare and drinks will include Pinnacle Vodka cocktails in fall flavors, Bai cocktails, beer, wine and samples of MANNA's Thanksgiving pies. Admission is free, and all are welcome. Sassafras Brings Lunch Service to Old City District

Your pals at S assafras (48 S. 2nd Street, Philadelphia) in Old City District will open their doors for lunch service starting on Monday, November 11, 2013. Pull up a stool at Philadelphia’s “Grande Dame” of neighborhood bars for an eclectic menu that has something for every palate. Inexpensive dishes will include award-winning burgers, traditional fish and chips, smothered steak sandwich, perogies, salads, soups and more. Popular local bartender Danny McCloskey has been brought on board to serve up great conversation and a world-class assortment of bottled beer, draft beers and wines, and a splendid selection of Single Malt Scotches, Whiskies and Bourbon. Rumor has it that lunch regulars may be privy to “secret” handcrafted cocktails only available during lunch service. As always, beloved mascot John Deer will preside in seasonal garb. Lunch will be offered Monday through Friday, 11:30am to 5:00pm. Menu offerings average $7.95 to $9.95.

Halloween Weekend: Salons Do Battle on Runway during City of Hope Fantasy Hair Competition

Let the games begin! Watch as top salons from the tri-state area battle it out during the region's top Universal Warrior: Fantasy Hair Competition (formerly COH Hair Ball) on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 8:00 PM, at Voyeur Nightclub (1225 St. James Place, Philadelphia, PA 19107). Salons will compete in seven different categories for top prizes valued over $5,000. Stylists will gather their "hair-raising" forces and prepare to enter the arena to compete head-to-head (literally) against the best coiffed warriors from all parts of history, time and space. East Passyunk Doubles Fall Fun with Second Saturday and South Philly Fest

Fall is a perfect time to shop, rock and stroll your way down East Passyunk Avenue. This weekend, double your fun with Second Saturday on Saturday, October 12, 2013 and South Philly Fest on Sunday, October 13, 2013. Second Saturday will feature a home tour, rack sales, sidewalk specials, art openings, kids’ costume swap, live music and complimentary fall treats. Hours vary by location. South Philly Fest by Lucky 13 Pub will take place from 12:00pm to 6:00pm outside of1820 S. 13th Street) featuring six bands, Sweet Jane Vintage, Kung Fu Hoagies, Little Baby’s Ice Cream and other vendors. East Passyunk Scares Up Halloween Fun During Fall Fest and Spooky Saturday

East Passyunk Avenue presents spooktacular fun with Fall Fest and Spooky Saturday on Saturday, October 26, 2013, from 11:00am to 4:00pm. This annual Halloween celebration will feature free activities for children, adults and even fido too! Spooky Saturday activities include cider and donuts, pumpkin painting, costume contests for children and dogs, pet treats, art lessons and a kids’ dance party. Trick or treating will expand this year to include the blocks between the Singing Fountain and the Mifflin Triangle. Free treat bags will be available at the Singing Fountain for the first 500 children courtesy of Aversa PR & Events. Fall Fest activities will include a craft show curated by Nice Things..Handmade, three live bands, pumpkins and fall foliage at Urban Jungle, a raffle from Philadelphia Scooters, and adoptables from Operation Ava, PAWS and Pig Placement Network. East Passyunk's LGBT Monthly Party QOTA Pops Up at Singing Fountain

East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District (EPABID) brings the popular monthly LGBT QOTA party to the Singing Fountain on Sunday, September 29, 2013, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. For September, the party moves outdoors for its first-ever pop-up event in Philadelphia’s new gayborhood. Chefs from restaurants around the Fountain will serve complimentary or discounted food and drink. Participating fooderies include locally and nationally recognized names such as Noord, Fond, Stateside, Belle Cakery, Izumi, Da Vinci Ristorante and Chiarella’s Ristorante. Metro Men’s will showcase their brand new store at East Passyunk and Tasker with complimentary beverages. Metro Men’s and Nicole Rae Styer will host a fashion show around the Singing Fountain at 4:00 PM. Streets immediately surrounding the Fountain will be closed for the outdoor party, including Passyunk at 11th and Tasker. The party is free and open to the community, ages 21 and older. All specials are first come, first served. Ten percent of proceeds from Fond and Stateside will be donated to ActionAIDS. In case of inclement weather, the party moves indoors to individual restaurants, bars and retail shops.

Nick's Roast Beef Debuts New Bacon Burger with Bespoke Bacon

Nick’s Roast Beef in Old City (16 South 2nd Street) is already famous for their “best of” roast beef and pork sandwiches, laid back vibe and unbeatable values. Nick’s owner Joseph Schultice, aka Joey Dog, has his sights set on a new prize – king of the burger. Schultice has partnered with local bacon purveyor Bespoke Bacon to reinvent the concept of the hamburger using a special ground bacon and beef blend. Nick’s Bacon Burger debuts during Old City “Bacon and Beer Fest” on Saturday, September 28, 2013, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The pay-as-you-go offerings will include the new Nick’s Bacon Burger, Bacon Nachos with pan-fried bacon crumble, Beer and Bacon Flights, Tomato and Crimini Mushroom Salad with Pancetta Tesa, and a savory ending with Bacon Cheesecake. Yards Brewing Company, Prism Brewing Company and Philadelphia Brewing Company will pair four seasonal with the bacon-centric menu.
