Eat, Drink and Be Merry as Spirits and Suds with Santa Jingles Into 13 East Passyunk Bars and Restaurants

Forget the cookies and milk! This year, St. Nick is getting his holly jolly on with seasonal craft beer and merry cocktails during Spirits & Suds with Santa Bar Crawl, on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, from 5:30pm to 9:30pm. Enjoy $3.00 seasonal craft beers, $4.00 merry cocktails and discounted snacks (select locations) at 13 award-winning bars and restaurants along East Passyunk Avenue. Five dollar admission also includes a Santa or Elf hat and a Santa’s Sipping Stamp Card. Collect five or more stamps to be entered to win a gift certificate prize package worth $325.00. Collect stamps for anything you purchase at the outlined locations, with a maximum of 2 stamps per location. Registration will be held at South Philly Bar & Grill (9th and Wharton) from 5:30 to 7:00pm. Stamp cards will be collected at Adobe Cafe (1919 EPA) at 9:30pm. Spirits & Suds with Santa is presented by East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District and sponsored by Sailor Jerry, Tullamore Dew and Yelp. Advance tickets are on sale at www.visiteastpassyunk.com. Proceeds will benefit local needy families this holiday season through East Passyunk Crossing's holiday giving program.

Chhaya Cafe Will Move to Larger Space on Popular East Passyunk Avenue Restaurant Row

East Passyunk's popular brunch spot and coffee shop Chhaya Café announces that it will moveto a new larger space at 1817 East Passyunk Avenue in late spring/early summer. The current location at 1823 East Passyunk seats 28 in the dining room, with 1,500 total square feet (approximately 800 for dining). The new space will replace Sweet Alyssa, and feature 1,800 total square feet (with approximately 1,100 for dining). Chhaya's seating will expand from 28 to 55 seats in total. (Note: Sweet Alyssa is relocating across the street, FYI.)

Chhaya Cafe Introduces New Winter Menu Items

Chhaya Café, 1823 East Passyunk Avenue, warms up during dipping temperatures with the return of richer, heavier and heartier brunch flavors. Chef and owner V Beuria serves up a winter menu with sweet and savory selections that embody the concept of comfort food. On the beverage side, Chhaya is warming up this winter with Mulled Apple Cider, Café Miel, Belgium Hot Chocolate and White Chocolate Mocha.

East Passyunk's Holiday Second Saturday Features Santa, Strolling Music, Food, Sales and Fun

East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District (EPABID) hosts the largest and most festive Second Saturday of the year on Saturday, December 14, 2013, starting at 9:00am and running into the evening. Holiday Second Saturday highlights will include the finale of the shopping spree contest, pet photos with Santa, music by the Joe King Trio, Holiday Crafty Balboa, Nice Things Handmade ornament show, Traveling Wares Holiday shopping, free food and drink samples, and tons of holiday sales. East Passyunk Rocks Around the Christmas Tree with Tree Lighting Party at the Singing Fountain

East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District (EPABID) and Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation (PARC) kick off the holiday’s with the annual Tree Lighting Party at the Singing Fountain (Tasker and EPA) on Thursday, December 5, 2013, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The free celebration will include carolers from Alphabet Academy, music by students from Andrew Jackson School, a visit from Santa Claus, holiday cupcakes for sale from Ms Goody Cupcake truck. Free food and drink samples will be provided by Belle Cakery, Black n Brew, Noord, Stateside and other restaurants to be announced. At 7:00pm, revelers are invited to the first Deck the Ave kick-off with free candy canes and treats at the shops, extended shopping hours, specials and sales, giveaways and other festive surprises. The Joe King Trio will stroll down the Avenue, leading shoppers to seasonal fun. Select restaurants and bars will offer dinner and drink specials, including Noord’s Chef Joncarl Lachman preparing Kabritu Stoba (whole braised goat).

Ray's Happy Birthday Bar Celebrates 75th Anniversary

Ray’s Happy Birthday Bar, 1200 East Passyunk Avenue, celebrates 75 years of birthday wishes, cheap drinks, familiar faces and jokes of the day. Ray’s, celebrated as one of America’s top dive bars, will host its 75th Anniversary Party on Sunday, December 1, 2013, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Turn back the clock to the late 1930s, where you can celebrate the end of Prohibition, gas at ten cents a gallon, and Ella Fitzgerald serving up "A Tisket A Tasket." Owners Lou and Rose Capozolli will offer drinks at “throw back” 1938 prices (SELECT drafts, whiskeys, more). Lite up your free pack of (candy) cigs as you say hubba-hubba to our Ray’s authentic cigarette girl. Get flapping to live music and jukebox sing-a-longs. Blow out the candles on our special anniversary cake. Chow down on candy and snacks inspired by and originating from 1938. Dress in 30s costume for a chance to win best dressed.

East Passyunk Doubles Fall Fun with Second Saturday and South Philly Fest

Fall is a perfect time to shop, rock and stroll your way down East Passyunk Avenue. This weekend, double your fun with Second Saturday on Saturday, October 12, 2013 and South Philly Fest on Sunday, October 13, 2013. Second Saturday will feature a home tour, rack sales, sidewalk specials, art openings, kids’ costume swap, live music and complimentary fall treats. Hours vary by location. South Philly Fest by Lucky 13 Pub will take place from 12:00pm to 6:00pm outside of1820 S. 13th Street) featuring six bands, Sweet Jane Vintage, Kung Fu Hoagies, Little Baby’s Ice Cream and other vendors.
