Theatre Exile presents an explosive ending to their 19th season with a timely political thriller The Invisible Hand by Pulitzer Prize winner Ayad Akhtar. Nick, an American banker in Pakistan, is imprisoned and must trade shares when his $10M ransom can't be met. The global tale examines how society, money and power shape the good and evil within. Previews begin on Thursday, May 12, 2016 and press opening night is Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 8:00pm. The show runs for a total of 21 performances through Sunday, June 5, 2016. Inis Nua Theatre Presents American Premiere of The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning

Inis Nua Theatre Company moves to The Proscenium Theatre at its new home The Drake (at 203 South Hicks Street) to present The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning by Tim Price. The American premiere of this Welsh play revives some not-so-long-ago American history to tell the story of the young Army intelligence analyst who leaked the largest amount of classified documents in U.S. history.
The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning opens on Friday, April 29 at 8:00 pm, with previews on Wednesday, April 27 and Thursday, April 28 at 7:00 pm. The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning runs for a total of 16 performances, through May 15, 2016. All shows are at the Proscenium Theatre at The Drake, 203 South Hicks Street. South Hicks Street is right next to The Drake apartment building at 1512 Spruce Street.

Philadelphia Celebrates Earth Day with Clean Air Council's 35th Run for Clean Air Presented by Toyota Hybrids

Clean Air Council presents Philadelphia’s largest Earth Day celebration with the 35th Run for Clean Air Presented by Toyota Hybrids. Nearly 2,500 participants are expected to run and walk on Saturday, April 16, 2016, starting at 7:00am, outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Participants can choose from four races (5K Run, PHLY 10K Run, 3K Walk, Kids’ fun run) while family and friends cheer them on. Afterwards, enjoy Earth Day at a special open-air festival in front of the iconic Philadelphia Museum of Art featuring an eco beer garden, food and drink, games, vendors, music and interactive displays. Online registration has closed, but in-person registration is still available on the day of the run, as well as during in-person packet pick-ups on Friday April 15, from 10:00am to 6:00pm at the Clean Air Council office, 135 S 19th St, Ste. 300 (19th and Walnut). 40 Bands to Rock South Street Spring Festival on Saturday, May 7, 2016

South Street Headhouse District announces that 40+ bands will rock the city on Saturday, May 7, 2016 during the 4th Annual South Street Spring Festival. The all-day, all-ages, free outdoor festival and concert will feature a mix of rock, funk, soul, hip hop, indie rock, reggae, R&B and country acts that will entertain an estimated 58,000+ people on three main stages and seven other performance areas on South Street and in Headhouse Square. Headhouse Square will also roll out the green for a special lawn concert with real grass for lounging and dancing in the sun! Festivities are free, with food and drink pay-as-you-go.

Philadelphia Artists' Collective and Philadelphia School of Circus Arts Bring Circus and Theater Together in He Who Gets Slapped

Behind the curtain of the big top, no one is laughing harder than the saddest clown of them all. Philadelphia Artists’ Collective, in partnership with Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, presents the Philadelphia premiere of He Who Gets Slapped, from March 30 to April 16, 2016, at Broad Street Ministry (315 S. Broad Street). A cast of clowns, lion-tamers and ringmasters perform their routines under a striped awning and glowing lights. When a new clown arrives, his cheerful makeup conceals a dark secret from his past. PAC’s Co-Founding Artistic Director Damon Bonetti directs an ensemble cast of familiar faces, who will perform their own circus skills with training from PSCA’s Circus Art / Movement Choreographer Terry Brennan.
