Brauhaus Schmitz Presents Sommerfest Block Party with Giant Maypole, Live Music, Dancers, More

Prost! Brauhaus Schmitz presents Sommerfest Block Party and Summer Festival on South Street on Saturday, June 25th, from 11:00am to 7:00pm. The city's award-winning German restaurant will take over the entire 700 block of South Street for a full day of family fun that includes the region's largest Maypole, authentic German dancing, live music, flower crowns, face painting, schnapski tent, games and much more. Brauhaus will pop-up with the city's largest outdoor German Biergarten with seating and shade for 1,000 guests. From the kitchen, Chef Mason Nash will fire up currywurst, roast pork, bacon wurst, brats and pretzels. From the taps, look for 13 different beers pouring, including Kölsch to Hefeweizens, Pilsners, Kellerbiers and Spring Bocks. The Sommerfest VIP Brauer Bund Bierhall will include private access to bathrooms, air conditioning, indoor seating, an all-day exclusive appetizer buffet, a commemorative glass beer stein, exclusive beers and six beer tokens. Sommerfest is free to attend, with food and drink pay-as-you-go. VIP tickets are on sale now for $100 each.

Philadelphia proudly celebrates June as Philly Gay Pride Month. We’ve compiled a list of 45 top ways to celebrate Gay Pride in our amazing city. While the pandemic pressed pause on events last year, Philly Gay Pride has never been stronger and more important. The pandemic has had a profoundly negative impact on our city’s LGBTQ community. Gay owned businesses were forced to shut down. Gay organizations and non-profits lost critical revenue for life-saving programs. The pandemic forced gay teens and college students into quarantine and isolation - losing the safety net of our city’s diverse and supportive larger community. Older gay seniors who sometimes already experience higher rates of social isolation were further isolated during months of prescribed social distancing and staying at home. The list continues as to how the pandemic specifically affected our gay and queer community - and it’s time to look ahead, come together and support one another. From Pride Days at Parks on Tap and Philadelphia Flower Show, to Pride Nights at Philadelphia Zoo and Concourse Dance Club, to LGBTQ Circus and Yoga workshops, to Pride Month events as part of Philly Beer Week, there is something for everyone this year.

Glu Hospitality and Temple Announce New Restaurant for Former Draught Horse

Glu Hospitality and Temple University are proud to announce a brand new modern grill and sports bar in the former home of The Draught Horse. The Peabody will make its grand debut this fall at 1431 Cecil B. Moore Avenue, on the west side of Broad Street. The 6,000 square foot space will have 40 seats at the bar and another 150 in the dining area. A large private dining space can hold 50 guests and be split into two for private parties. There will also be outdoor seating on Cecil B. Moore. The menu will feature American cuisine presented by Executive Chef Chino Chang with a wide variety of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, entrees and more. The drink menu will include signature and seasonal cocktails designed by Glu's award winning beverage team that is known for cocktails at Leda and the Swan, Vesper Center City and Figo. In addition to cocktails, look for ten draft lines pouring, plus bottles and cans, with craft beer, popular domestic selections, ciders, hard seltzers and more. The food and drink menus are designed to cater to students, faculty, family, alumni and neighbors. When opened, The Peabody will offer lunch, happy hour and dinner seven days a week, with weekend brunch service.

Free Toll Friday Returns to AC Expressway for Memorial Day Weekend Rush Hour

After a two-year pandemic hiatus, iconic Delaware Valley based restaurant group Chickie’s and Pete’s will kick-off summer by paying travelers tolls Memorial Day Weekend. Chickie’s and Pete’s will once again partner with the South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA) and the Atlantic City Expressway for “Free Toll Friday." While gas prices and travel costs are on the rise, Chickie's and Pete's picks up the tab in one of the region's best summertime traditions. Chickie’s & Pete’s, home of world famous Crabfries®, will be paying tolls (cash and EZ Pass) for all drivers at the Eastbound Egg Harbor, New Jersey Toll Plaza Exit on Friday May 27th from 5pm to 6pm. Early that afternoon, from 12 noon to 5pm Chickie’s and Pete's will give away free orders of their world famous Crabfries® at the Farley Plaza from The Crabfries® Express Food Truck, plus host an outdoor celebration.

Parks on Tap Announces Return to Fairmount Water Works for Summer

Philadelphia’s famous beer garden that gives back to city parks announces its return for the summer season. Parks on Tap will start their extended stay outside of the historic Fairmount Water Works (640 Waterworks Drive) on Friday, May 20, 2022. For fans of the original traveling format, Parks on Tap will travel again starting August 31, 2022, hitting the road for five weeks highlighting five different Philadelphia parks. This hybrid model will offer the perfect blend of experiences for Philadelphia locals and tourists alike. When open, patrons will be able to enjoy sweeping riverfront views, fresh food, beers on tap, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages in a secure outdoor environment with comfortable chairs and clean restrooms. Parks on Tap is family (and fido) friendly. Season hours for Parks on Tap at the Water Works location will be Wednesday to Friday, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 11:00pm, weather permitting. Parks on Tap at Water Works celebrates Juneteenth on Sunday, June 19th, plus there will be special hours on Monday, June 20th from 5:00pm to 10:00pm in honor of the official City holiday of Juneteenth, and Tuesday, June 21st from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. Pride at the Park: Pride Day at Parks on Tap returns Saturday, June 18th, from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. For 2022, all guests must sign-in prior to entry to access their free seasonal membership. Food and drink are pay-as-you-go. Seating is first come, first served.

Curtains Up: Philly Theatre Week Returns From April 1 to 10 with Hundreds Events Around the Region

Theatre Philadelphia announces the return of Philly Theatre Week featuring hundreds of theatrical performances across the region between April 1-10, 2022. The ten day festival will showcase the talents of 64 organizations with 85 shows and events. This fifth annual celebration showcases the vibrant and diverse theatre scene in the tri-state region, while shedding a light on the theatre community’s resilience through the pandemic. Events include a variety of live and virtual performances and workshops, theatre-by-mail and chatroom, and exclusive ticket pre-sales, showcasing theatre across the Greater Philadelphia region with shows in Philadelphia, Delaware, South Jersey, Bucks County, and the Main Line and Western Suburbs. Golden Girls Mystery Experience Makes Philadelphia Premiere at Craft Hall Starting March 5th

A Golden Girls Murder Mystery: The Curse of Jessica Fletcher will make its Philadelphia stage debut starting March 5th at Craft Hall, at 901 N. Delaware Avenue. Rose, Dorothy, Blanche and Sophia are back at it again, and this time the four friends from Miami are trying their hand at solving a mystery. Come out for whodunnit vibes mixed with tons of laughs during this unique immersive experience that even includes themed cocktails and food. Tickets are on sale now for $64 each and include the show, food and three cocktails per person. Additional cocktails and food are pay-as-you-go. The show will run from March to April, on select Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with times on show nights at 6:00pm and 9:00pm. Save the date and come thirsty and hungry for National Margarita Day this year on Taco Tuesday. SliCE and Steven Singer Jewelers Team Up for Valentine's with Heart-Shaped Pizzas and Gold-Dipped Roses

Two local small businesses are teaming up with the most unique Valentine's Day gifts in the region. Steven Singer Jewelers returns for Valentine's with their signature 24 kt. gold-dipped roses, including a new color with Emerald City Green. Singer is open at their location at 739 Walnut with special Valentine's Weekend hours. SliCE is also taking orders and delivering heart-shaped pizza grams now through Valentine's Day in Fishtown, Northern Liberties, Center City, South Philly, University City and Washington Township. Together, the two have joined forces and Singer is donating part of the proceeds from Valentine's gold-dipped rose sales to support SliCE and feed over 750 health heroes and frontline staff heart-shaped pizzas this week at both Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Pennsylvania Hospital. On Valentine's Day itself the two will again team up and three lucky heart gram recipients will find a special gold-dipped rose with their heart-shaped pizza.
