Clean Air Council 9th Annual Greenfest Philly Returns to Headhouse Square with Music, Food, Eco Shopping, More

Clean Air Council’s 9th Annual Greenfest Philly returns to Headhouse Square (2nd and South Streets) on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The tri-state region’s largest environmental festival is bigger than ever with live music, free demos, an outdoor beer garden, organic food and drinks, handmade and green shopping, MOM’s Organic Market Kids’ Corner, a twenty-five foot rock wall, and even edible bugs. City of Hope Philadelphia Fights Women's Cancers with 5K Walk

One in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in her lifetime. On Saturday, September 13, 2014, this reality will unite survivors and supporters during the 17th annual Women’s Cancer Walk by City of Hope Philadelphia. Look for a parade of purple and listen for the outpouring of hope as walkers travel from Campbell’s Field (401 Delaware Ave, Camden), across the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, to the Arch Street Meeting House (320 Arch St, Philadelphia). Registration starts at 8:00am, and the walk starts at 10:00am. Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for children at www.womenscancerwalk.org. 9th Annual East Passyunk Car Show and Street Festival Returns with 140+ Cars, Food, Circus, Music and More

20 Restaurants Go Grill to Grill in Dog Days of Summer Cook-Off by South Street Headhouse District

Twenty of the region’s top restaurants and food trucks will go grill-to-grill in the summer’s ultimate hot-dog competition. South Street Headhouse District, in conjunction with Hot Diggity!, will host the 3rd Annual Dog Days of Summer Cook-Off on Saturday, July 19, 2014, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, under the historic Headhouse Square Shambles (400 Block of South 2nd Street between Lombard and Pine). Sample the most flavorful, unique and inventive hot dogs while enjoying craft beer, live music, an amateur toppings contest and other summertime fun. Philadelphia FIGHT and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia seek to motivate hundreds of young people to get tested for HIV by offering a free Hip Hop Concert on National HIV Testing Day. Teenagers and young adults aged 13-24 will receive a free ticket to see Grammy nominated Hip Hop recording artist Wale if they get a free HIV test at a variety of participating locations throughout the city on or before June 27, 2014. Join us for a special evening of hors d’oeuvres, conversation and the presentation of the Kiyoshi Kuromiya Award. This annual award recognizes individuals and organizations that are exemplars in fighting for the rights of people with HIV. This year’s winner is Noble Prize recipient Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, PhD, who is being honored for her contributions to HIV/AIDS research and the discovery of HIV.
