South Street Headhouse District Celebrates Winter Wonderland with Tree Lighting, Headhouse Holiday Market and Window Competition

South Street Headhouse District (SSHD) presents their annual extravaganza Winter Wonderland on Sunday, December 7, 2014, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Historic Headhouse Square Shambles on 200 Pine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147.  Free family fun will include the annual holiday tree lighting, Santa Claus arriving on a firetruck, free horse-drawn carriage rides, performances by Philadelphia Dance Academy and Society Hill Dance Academy, and the Headhouse Holiday Market in conjunction with PHAIR. Brauhaus Schmitz will serve mulled wine and other treats. Before or after the festivities, stroll the district and check out holiday displays at 30+ businesses competing in the Window Wonderland Storefront Challenge. Clean Air Council’s 9th Annual Greenfest Philly returns to Headhouse Square (2nd and South Streets) on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The tri-state region’s largest environmental festival is bigger than ever with live music, free demos, an outdoor beer garden, organic food and drinks, handmade and green shopping, MOM’s Organic Market Kids’ Corner, a twenty-five foot rock wall, and even edible bugs. 20 Restaurants Go Grill to Grill in Dog Days of Summer Cook-Off by South Street Headhouse District

Twenty of the region’s top restaurants and food trucks will go grill-to-grill in the summer’s ultimate hot-dog competition. South Street Headhouse District, in conjunction with Hot Diggity!, will host the 3rd Annual Dog Days of Summer Cook-Off on Saturday, July 19, 2014, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, under the historic Headhouse Square Shambles (400 Block of South 2nd Street between Lombard and Pine).  Sample the most flavorful, unique and inventive hot dogs while enjoying craft beer, live music, an amateur toppings contest and other summertime fun. VIP passes are $30 and include early access at Noon, a VIP gift and 20 food/drink tickets. General admission is free, with food/drink tickets costing 4/$10 and 15/$30.
