Cinder Now Open, Bringing Ciders, Sours And Artisan Pizza To Rittenhouse Square

Teddy Sourias of Craft Concepts (BRU Craft & Wurst, U-Bahn, Uptown Beer Garden, Finn McCool's Ale House) announces the opening of Cinder today at 1500 Locust Street. The Rittenhouse cider/sour bar and artisanal pizza kitchen features ciders and wild ales on the 32 taps and 70+ bottles. Three bell chef rated Jonathan Petruce and his culinary team will prepare pizzas, mussels, salads and small plates in the open kitchen focusing on local ingredients. Rustic pizza using creative and classical toppings will be prepared in custom-built wood-fired pizza oven. Beer will be poured from full custom design system housed in copper pipes. The bar will also pour 10 wines by the glass and over 20 wines by the bottle. The stylish and sophisticated 2,400 square foot bar and dining room seats 34 on custom built high-tops and 34 on low-tops and banquets, with 16 at the bar.

Taproom On 19th Hosts The Year Anniversary Block Party

Taproom on 19th (2400 S. 19th, Philadelphia) celebrates its third anniversary with a full day celebration that features brews, paella and live music. This Saturday, November 12, 2016, from 1:00pm to 10:00pm, owners Michael Strauss and Pete Fry will host the “Three Year Anniversary Block Party” featuring Fresh Grill Catering and Paella, performances by the Gin Canaries, tap-takeover with Bella Vista Beer Distributor, a special beer from Forest & Main Brewing Company, and a preview from their new neighbor Kay Kay's Cakes. Cinder Announces Executive Chef And Menu Preview Ahead Of November Opening

Teddy Sourias of Craft Concepts (BRU Craft & Wurst, U-Bahn, Uptown Beer Garden, Finn McCool's Ale House) announces three bell-rated chef Jonathan Petruce will serve as Executive Chef at Cinder, coming to 1500 Locust Street. Petruce recently worked with Craft Concepts as the pop-up chef for the summer at Uptown Beer Garden. The first draft of Petruce's menu will include elevated versions of casual favorites - and including Al Pastor Pizza, Pistachio Pizza and Saison Mussels. As the kitchen team takes shapes, construction enters final phases and staff training begins, look for Sourias to announce this week a final opening date - which should be for early to mid November. Nick's Bar and Grille (16 S. 2nd Street) announces the debut of their first-ever brunch service, launching this coming weekend. Every Saturday and Sunday, from 11:00am to 3:00pm, the Old City staple will serve up brunch favorites that use their new in-house smoked meats, their signature ground bacon and beef burgers and other variations on popular Philadelphia flavors. Old City District presents Old City Fest on Sunday, October 9, 2016, from 11:00am to 6:00pm, along N. 3rd Street (from Market to Race) and Arch Street (from 2nd to 4th). Thirty restaurants, coffee shops, bars and other eateries will serve food and drink out on the streets of Old City in the festival footprint. New restaurants to the fest include The Little Lion Amada, Keating’s Rope & Anchor Bar + Kitchen, Wister BYOB, The Olde Bar and La Famiglia. Returning favorites include Buddakan, Continental, Franklin Fountain, High Street on Market, Positano Coast and others. Outside of food and drink, look for live music, two runway fashion shows, a family fun zone, pop-up street performances and a wide array of art, craft and retail shopping, with 100+ Old City vendors participating.

Brauhaus Schmitz to Transform 23rd Street Armory into Philadelphia's Largest New Oktoberfest

Brauhaus Schmitz will transform the 16,000 square-foot 23rd Street Armory (22 S. 23rd St.) into the likeness of a Munich festival tent for the first annual 23rd Street Armory Oktoberfest on Friday, October 7-9, 2016. Decked out with Bavarian blue and white ceilings, authentic festival tables and benches imported from Germany plus a lofted stage area for musical acts like the Grammy-nominated Alex Meixner Band, Brauhaus will throw the trip-state region’s largest Oktoberfest celebration. Traditional food provided by Chef Jeremy Nolen and beer will be provided by the famous Hofbräuhaus will be served. Tickets are available for each of the five sessions for $45 general admission, or $65 VIP. With the most authentic German dancing, food, entertainment, beer and more this new festival is sure to be as amazing as Munich!

Clean Air Council’s 11th Annual Greenfest Philly presented by Toyota Hybrids returns to Headhouse Square (2nd and South Streets) on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The tri-state region’s largest environmental festival and tastier than ever - with new cooking demonstrations with Miss Rachel’s Pantry, P’unk Burger and Revolution Taco, plus organic food vendors, free coffee from Joe Coffee, outdoor beer garden and edible bugs.
