Fishtown's largest street festival and block party is back - and bigger than ever! Fishtown District, with support from Penn Treaty Special Services District, presents Fishtown Fall Feastivale on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 12:00pm to 8:00pm, on Frankford Avenue, from Girard to Palmer. The all day, all ages block party will feature outdoor food and drink, DJs and German folk music, family fun and carnival games, charity celebrity dunk tank, artists and makers, vendors and community groups, and much more. Look for some of the biggest names in the city to serve street food, made in Fishtown beers and speciality seasonal sips outside under the autumn skies, including Evil Genius Beer Company, Two Robbers Spirits Co., Front Street Cafe, FNA Beer Tent Fundraiser, Johnny Brenda's, Bottle Bar East/ Mom Mom's Kitchen, Kraftwork, Heffe Tacos, R&D, LMNO, Frankford Hall, Fette Sau, Interstate Drafthouse/ Meyers Brewing Co., Fiore, La Colombe, Kismet Bagels, Tatsu Tea, Calle del sabor, Humpty's Dumplings, Fishtown Pickle Project, and many more. Let the Mud Fly! 16th Anniversary Kensington Derby and Arts Festival Moves to Frankford Avenue

East Kensington’s long-time parade and arts festival is moving over to Frankford Avenue. Fishtown District, with support from Penn Treaty Special Services District, presents Kensington Derby and Arts Fest on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, on Frankford Avenue, from York St to Huntingdon St. The event, which won Best of Philly in 2023, is back and ready to let the mud fly! Derby teams prepare human-powered sculptures crafted from recycled bicycles and other materials and ride their contraptions through various obstacles ending with a spectacular mud-pit finish at the arts festival grounds. Winners are then crowned in categories that have ranged over the years like Best Art, Best Costume, Best Engineering, Media Choice and Judge’s Choice. The parade is free to participate, open to all ages and abilities with a bike, helmet, and pun-y team name.

Omakase is a Japanese cuisine style “menu” that is completely left in the hands of the Chef. Chef Yanaga will be preparing his Kaiseki style Omakase, in the intimate and exclusive eight-seat dining area attached to the already existing Izakaya by Yanaga restaurant. Through the discrete double doors to the back of Izakaya, each guest will enter a unique tasting room where they will sit facing Chef around a custom sushi bar, where Chef will perform his culinary craft nightly. Every diner will spend the 90 minute experience with the Chef watching his artistry, sharing stories and learning about the dishes. All 25 courses served will be specially selected by Yanaga. No two experiences are ever the same. Alongside the exclusive dining experience, sake and wine pairings tailored to the experience will be offered, as well as tea service and unique cocktails. One of Philadelphia's largest spring festivals is back after a pandemic break and ready to take over Trenton Avenue from Norris Street to Frankford Avenue. The fourteenth year for this event will feature over 100+ local vendors, artists, musicians, food and drink, performers - and a parade of homemade vehicles. Derby competitors are encouraged to wear costumes and make it to the finish line in their human-powered vehicles and floats. Over 15,000 people are expected to come out and cheer them on along the three mile obstacle course that stretches through East Kensington and Fishtown. Mud, bubbles and other obstacles along the route will be presented by some of the District's biggest names, including Johnny Brenda's, Philadelphia Brewing Co., and Kensington Community Food Co-Op.
