Philly's Sushi Whisperer Kevin Yanaga Debuts Izakaya by Yanaga in Fishtown

Glu Hospitality and Philly's Sushi Whisperer Kevin Yanaga announce the opening of Izakaya by Yanaga in Fishtown at 1832 Frankford Avenue. Yanaga brings over 10 years of experience in the the top sushi restaurants in the region, including at Izakaya at Borgata, Double Knot, Pod, Morimoto and Zama. After working with Stephen Starr, Michael Schulson and some of the biggest names in the business, Yanaga will now open his very first restaurant as Executive Chef and Partner. For his first outing, Yanaga will debut two concepts under one roof. Izakaya by Yanaga will open first just in time for fall dining season, followed by chef's tasting room Omakase by Yanaga in late fall. Izakaya will open for a Labor Day Weekend preview on Thursday, September 2 to Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm nightly.

Glu Hospitality debuts its first-ever breakfast and lunch concept Bagels and Co (1001 N 2nd St) with a grand opening celebration between Friday, June 4 and Sunday, June 13, 2021. Derek Gibbons and Tim Lu, the dynamic duo behind Germantown Garden Grill, Vesper Dayclub, Leda and the Swan, Germantown Garden Grill, Hunnies Crispy Chicken, The Igloos at Germantown Garden and Vesper Center City, are proud to debut a 1,100 square foot breakfast, lunch, coffee and bagel cafe and shop that is modern, clean, simple and stylish, complete with an opening menu filled with over a dozen varieties of Brooklyn-style Bagels, over two dozen inventive, creative and signature cream cheeses and spreads, along with fresh made-to-order sandwiches, salads, baked goods and other goodies. Lola's Garden is now officially under permit review construction at Suburban Square in the heart of the red hot Ardmore dining scene. The brand-new indoor and outdoor restaurant, patio and beer/wine garden hybrid will take inspiration from the company's popular Rittenhouse restaurant, Harper's Garden. The 260 seat dining destination will offer beautiful and picturesque views of Suburban Square's inner green courtyard, while offering the approachability of the company's waterfront favorite Morgan's Pier. Ardmore Initiative announces the debut of the Main Line's newest plant-based eatery and cafe. Blue Pearl Cafe presented by owner FJ Leto and his company Juice Dr. will grand open this Saturday, August 22nd at 9:00am at 44 Rittenhouse Place. Blue Pearl Cafe will features a menu of plant-based vegan offerings that include breakfast and lunch dishes, coffee, and tea, organic smoothies, cold pressed juices, wellness shots, organic noodles, gluten free grain bowls, salads and more. Signature dishes include Spaghetti and Beetballs, Pad Thai, Walnut Taco Salad, Acai Bowl, Dark Blue Overnight Oats and other tasty dishes. The former eye glass store is 750 square feet inside and features three tables inside with extensive coffee bar seating along the main wall. Most indoor dining, however, is on hold and the cafe has a limited number of people inside to ensure social distancing.

Anejo Grand Opens First Location Outside of New York City in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia

Añejo Restaurant Group has come together with Glu Hospitality to bring Añejo to Philadelphia. The acclaimed Mexican restaurant and tequila bar will make its official grand opening debut this Friday, July 31, 2020 at 4:00pm in Northern Liberties at the Piazza, 1001 N. 2nd Street. This new location represents the restaurant's first expansion out of the New York City marketplace, where they also have locations in Hell's Kitchen and TriBeCa. The opening comes after the restaurant was days away from opening in March and which then experienced delays due to stay at home orders and the delay of indoor dining. Now, with an expansive, shaded, and beautiful outdoor parklette and sidewalk cafe ready to enjoy, Añejo will bring Philly its innovative Mexican cuisine, top quality service, and hospitality experience, plus expertise in cocktails and agave spirits. For launch, look for 50+ outdoor seats to start with an additional 35 seats coming in middle August.
