Pearl Properties Announces Federal Donuts’ 10th Location Opening Summer Of 2021

Pearl Properties and Federal Donuts are excited to announce that a brand-new location for Federal Donuts is coming to The Terrace on 18th at 1776 Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Philadelphia’s iconic donut and fried chicken specialists will open their tenth location at the most iconic Philadelphia address in the City of Philadelphia. The fast-casual donut shop will occupy 1,500+ square feet on the ground floor of The Terrace. The Terrace location will have the most seating of any Federal Donuts location, including an expansive raised outdoor patio. For interior vibes, look for unique design elements that complement the “round” walls of the famous circular building. On the menu, residents, neighbors, local workers and visiting foodies will find all of their Federal Donuts favorites, including Hot Fresh Donuts, Fancy Donuts, new Classic Donuts and twice-cooked Fried Chicken, plus an enhanced beverage program with espresso drinks, cold brew coffee on draft, and the Donut Latte. When open, residents of The Terrace on 18th will be able to enjoy their donuts and fried chicken with stunning panoramic views as they eat on their private outdoor balcony. The Terrace on 18th, Federal Donuts, and previously announced tenant, Victory Brewing Company, are all currently under construction. The Terrace on 18th will welcome residents starting in June. Federal Donuts aims to open in late summer. Victory Brewing Company aims to open in late summer or early fall. “Federal Donuts celebrates a big milestone with plans for our tenth location,” said CEO and Co-owner Tom Henneman. “Federal Donuts Parkway will be a very important location for the company. The Parkway is an entry point to Philadelphia for many people, and Federal Donuts was born and bred in Philly. Having the opportunity to be a part of activating the street life in this area will hopefully continue to contribute to the crucial role that Philadelphia plays in the story of our company and vice versa.”

“The Terrace on 18th is perfectly located in the center of the iconic Benjamin Franklin Parkway, a short walk from Philadelphia’s most renowned museums and attractions and in the heart of both the business and shopping districts,” said Pearl Properties Principal Reed Slogoff. “Federal Donuts is an ideal occupant for the corner of 18th and Cherry Streets. Featuring outdoor seating, Federal Donuts will be the perfect stop for neighborhood residents, local office workers and tourists alike, activating the corner like it hasn’t been before. We look forward to working with Federal Donuts as we create something truly special for those living their best Philadelphia life.”

FEDERAL DONUTS PARKWAY

Federal Donuts Parkway is currently under construction and is aiming for a late summer (August) or early fall (September) opening date. The 1,500 square foot cafe and fast casual eatery will feature an estimated 30 seats on the inside and 25 seats on the outside, making it the most seating for any current Federal Donuts location to date. When open, this location will offer indoor dining, outdoor dining, take-out, delivery and catering.

From the kitchen, main menu highlights will include The Classics – a new donut menu that was quietly released at the start of 2021 – of simply glazed, classic spiced cake donuts meant for your morning coffee. The Classics are: Old Fashioned Glazed (milk glaze over classic spiced cake); Dark Chocolate Glazed (dark chocolate milk glaze over classic spiced cake); and Chocolate Old Fashioned (milk glaze over chocolate spiced cake). The Classics join the shop’s signature line-up of hot-fresh donuts and a rotating selection of six Fancy Donuts. On the beverage side, look for an enhanced program, that includes espresso drinks, cold brew on draft, and signature Donut Latte.

For interior design, Federal Donuts will again work with Boxwood Architecture & Design. For this specific location, Federal Donuts at the Terrace looks to solve the age-old challenge of fitting a square into a circle or portion thereof in this case. Although the Federal Donuts space occupies only a wedge of the building's overall circular plan, the space does not include perpendicular walls, and the exterior glass storefront is completely curved. This presented interesting challenges for resolving the counter approach, seating areas, and back-of-house kitchen elements. Working like spokes emanating from the hub, the dining area incorporates high top, spacious tables while also including the standard school desk-style individual seats to create an edge at the opposite end of the space. Architectural features include elements seen in other locations: rustic "chicken coop" style cladding, Maple and Walnut striped countertop with curves connecting multiple surfaces to emulate the movement of the "chicken run," and classic red, white, and blue accent paint and laminate trims on the walls - along with the ever-present gold painted ceiling. The donut display is a mixture of a custom walnut frame that holds chicken wire glass as the front for showcasing the classic and fancy donuts. This site also offers a unique experience with outdoor seating; it includes loose tables and chairs in the federal donut color palette, set against the circular planter wells and beds that define the property's edge.

For delivery, look for in-house delivery, delivery via DoorDash, and delivery through gopuff. Federal Donuts also now ships nationwide on Goldbelly.com. This location will also host private events. Inquiries can be sent to info@federaldonuts.com. For catering, inquiries can be sent to catering@federaldonuts.com
