Christmas Village Brings Holiday Surprises to Baltimore with New Preview Weekend, New Layout, New Tree Lighting, New Beer Tastings, and More Food

Christmas Village in Baltimore is ready to transform West Shore Park (501 Light Street) into a traditional indoor and outdoor German Christmas Market. For the new holiday season, this annual Baltimore tradition will open early with a brand-new preview weekend on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18, 2018. Christmas Village will then open regular hours for the season starting on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22nd through Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24th. During the preview, visitors are invited to catch a first glimpse at the remodeled event venue featuring not only an indoor area, but also an extended outdoor area with booths along the Inner Harbor promenade and a twenty-one-foot-tall Christmas tree right next to the PANDORA Ice Rink. The Christmas Tree, provided by Christmas Village, will be part of the new Holiday District in the Inner Harbor. The Official Tree Lighting Ceremony in partnership with Waterfront Partnership is set for the first day of the preview, on November 17th.

Hawthornes Beer Cafe Expands Annual Great Cider and Beer Festival with More Seasonal Selections plus Philadelphia's Top Food Trucks

Hawthornes Beer Cafe (738 S. 11th) celebrates the return of fall with the 3rd Annual Great Cider and Beer Festival on Saturday, November 3, 2018, from 11:00am to 8:00pm. With the crisp, cool air moving in, Hawthornes will close down 11th Street from Fitzwater to Catherine, and showcase over 50+ seasonal beers, new and favorite ciders, barrel-aged rarities and wine selections pouring for only five dollars each. Look for a full line-up of Philadelphia's top food trucks to serve warm comfort food for one of the final outdoor festivals of the fall season. On top of food and drink, enjoy live music, entertainment , vendors, pie eating contest, shopping and free family fun! The event is free and open to the public, and rain or shine. University City Launches Philadelphia's Newest Dessert Destination This Friday With the Openings of I-CE-NY Philly and The Creamery Cafe

University City is about to get a little sweeter! Two new dessert concepts will open this Friday (October 19th) at 3818 Chestnut Street. I-CE-NY Philly, the original Thai rolled ice cream in Chinatown Square, will open its second location in Philadelphia. The menu will include Thai rolled ice cream rolls - or smashed ice cream - and include notable Ube and Mango Sticky Rice creations. They will be joined by the world’s debut of The Creamery Cafe and Philadelphia’s debut of freakshakes. In addition to these monstrous morphed milkshake creations, customers will be able to choose from nine flavors of unique and gourmet soft serve ice creams as well. Owner Lisa Taing will give away free Thai rolled ice cream, gourmet soft serve cones and freakshakes during lunch and dinner, between 12:00pm to 2:00pm, and 4:00pm to 6:00pm this Friday. Steve's Prince of Steaks Opens Fifth Location in University City This Friday -- Free Cheesesteaks During Lunch and Dinner

Philadelphia iconic cheesesteak brand Steve’s Prince of Steaks announces the grand opening of the company’s fifth location this Friday (October 19th) in Hamilton Court at 3836 Chestnut Street. The royal “Prince” Steve Iliescu and business partner Jason Magowan will give away free cheesesteaks, fries and sodas for lunch and dinner in University City, between 12:00pm and 2:00pm and 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Students with valid college identification from Penn, Drexel and University of the Sciences can enjoy free cheesesteaks all day as well - even beyond those hours.

South Street Scares Up Family Fun During Pumpkinfest

South Street Headhouse District has plenty of tricks and treats for children and adults of all ages during the neighborhood’s annual Halloween festivities. On Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, South Street Pumpkin Fest returns to Headhouse Square (2nd and Lombard) with circus performances, horse and wagon hay rides, crafts for kids, seasonal bites, pumpkin putt-putt golf, a straw bale maze, face painting and costume contests and even a a pumpkin pie eating contest. Businesses will also open their doors for trick or treaters (12 and under) from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.

The Philadelphia Artists' Collective returns to the Philadelphia FringeArts Festival with a hauntingly beautiful site-specific work by the famous author of Peter Pan. Mary Rose, by J.M. Berrie, will be presented both inside the historic and ornate mansion - and outside under the stars in the cemetery itself. The show runs for a total of 12 performances through September 22, 2018.
