Azuka Theatre Continues to Champion Local Philadelphia Voices with New Playwrights' Group Featuring Production Commitment

Hot on the heels of receiving the Independence Award for Outstanding Production of a New Play (The Gap by Emma Goidel) at The Barrymore Awards, Azuka Theatre announces a new writers’ program designed to develop new works by Philadelphia playwrights. Azuka has long been a champion for local voices and this new writer’s group represents the next level of support. New Pages gives local playwrights a unique writer-centric space to develop their work. Based on the needs and processes of the individuals in the group, New Pages seeks to support Philadelphia playwrights from the spark of an idea to a production-ready script. Azuka Theatre has committed to producing one play per season by a writer from this group for the next three years, beginning in its 2019-2020 season. This is the first writers group in Philadelphia to make a commitment for full productions, and Azuka hopes to not only foster playwrights as they build full bodies of work, but to help them deepen their roots in the Philadelphia theatre community.

Christmas Village in Philadelphia presented by Bank of America will once again return to the newly renovated LOVE Park for its 11th season (1500 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102). From Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 22, 2018) through Christmas Eve (Monday, December 24, 2018), Christmas Village will transform LOVE Park for the month into an authentic open-air German Christmas market, with holiday sights and sounds featuring thousands of twinkling lights, festive Christmas decorations, live music, children’s activities, and photos with Santa presented by ACME. Shoppers will find high-quality international and local gifts along with beautiful decorations and are invited to warm up with a glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate while enjoying the great variety of European food and drinks. Philadelphia Christmas Bar Tinsel Brings Holiday Cheer to Center City in Former Jewelry Store - Bigger, Better, and More Holiday Bling!

Teddy Sourias and Craft Concepts Group announce the season grand opening of Tinsel Christmas Pop-up Bar at 116 S. 12th Street, Philadelphia. The mad elves from Tradesman's, BRU Craft & Wurst, Cinder Copper & Lace, U-Bahn, Uptown Beer Garden, Kontrol and Finn McCool's Ale House have spent months decking the halls to bring this holiday sensation back with an even bigger space, extended hours, more days, extra twinkle, added glitter, festive holiday tunes and more. New surprises include music playlist curated with help from Mr. Christmas himself, DJ Robert Drake from XPN, and a custom take-home Tinsel soup can with cocktail to benefit MANNA. The holiday-themed cocktail and craft beer bar will grand open on Thursday, December 6, 2018 and run through New Year's Day. Tinsel's hours will be Monday and Tuesday, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 2:00pm to Midnight, Saturday Noon to Midnight, and Sunday Noon to 10:00pm. Tinsel will offer happy hour specials Monday through Friday 5:00pm to 6:00pm with $2 off select craft beer, Winter Wonderland cocktails and wine. During Happy Hour, professional "mall" Santas will enjoy their first drink for free when they "drop down the chimney" in full Santa attire and show credentials. Mall Santas in full attire will drink for half off all other times! Tinsel will end the season with a special New Year's Eve Party and New Year's Day Celebration. The pop-up Holiday Market, organized by local businesses and located at The Clay Studio’s parking lot (137-139 N. 2nd Street), will feature trees, wreaths, and other holiday greenery by Petit Jardin en Ville, one-of-a-kind gifts from some of Old City’s shops and galleries, and seasonal sips and bites from local restaurants!

Ardmore's Cricket Cringle Brings Outdoor Pop-Up Holiday Market to the Main Line with Shopping, Music, Food, and Family Fun

Ardmore Initiative will kick-off the holidays with the return of the 5th Annual Cricket Cringle on Friday November 30 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, and Saturday, December 1 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The Main Line's festive open-air holiday market is a two-day pop-up festival that takes over Cricket Avenue at Lancaster, and features over 40 artists, makers, businesses and restaurants, plus complimentary tote bags, live music, performances, cookie decorating, Santa's arrival, free hot cocoa, live greenery, decorations and tons of holiday cheer. This year, vendors will include a mix of Downtown businesses, local artists and makers, new and long-time restaurants, and popular food trucks. Bring Santa's shopping list for everything from jewelry, housewares, clothing, greens, wreaths, toys and gifts for all ages.
