University City Launches Philadelphia's Newest Dessert Destination This Friday With the Openings of I-CE-NY Philly and The Creamery Cafe

University City is about to get a little sweeter! Two new dessert concepts will open this Friday (October 19th) at 3818 Chestnut Street. I-CE-NY Philly, the original Thai rolled ice cream in Chinatown Square, will open its second location in Philadelphia. The menu will include Thai rolled ice cream rolls - or smashed ice cream - and include notable Ube and Mango Sticky Rice creations. They will be joined by the world’s debut of The Creamery Cafe and Philadelphia’s debut of freakshakes. In addition to these monstrous morphed milkshake creations, customers will be able to choose from nine flavors of unique and gourmet soft serve ice creams as well. Owner Lisa Taing will give away free Thai rolled ice cream, gourmet soft serve cones and freakshakes during lunch and dinner, between 12:00pm to 2:00pm, and 4:00pm to 6:00pm this Friday. P’unk Burger Brings The Franklin Fountain To East Passyunk In Three New Holiday Shakes

East Passyunk’s organic burger and shake hot spot announces a new partnership with Old City District’s most famous ice cream parlour. Starting on Thursday, December 8th, P’unk Burger will carry three new holiday milkshakes made with ice cream sourced from The Franklin Fountain. Customers can celebrate the flavors of the holiday with Gingersnap Eggnog Custard, Cinnamon and non-dairy Peppermint Stick. The three shakes are only the start, as P’unk Burger will regularly source from The Franklin Fountain going forward, and even debut a custom, exclusive East Passyunk-inspired new ice cream and milkshake by late spring. All milkshakes with The Franklin Fountain ice cream are $8.00 each. The three seasonal flavors are also available at P'unk Burger by the scoop as well as for floats with Maine Root natural soda on the fountain.

Ice Cream Beer Floats Return to Sassafras in Old City, Along with Pretzel Breaded Fried Calamari

Your pals at Sassafras (48 S. 2nd Street, Philadelphia) in Old City have the perfect answer to the current heat and humidity. Cool down at Philadelphia’s “Grande Dame” of neighborhood bars with unique Sassafras flavored ice cream, available in one of four beer float combinations, or as a treat on its own. They also present a new must-try dish with pretzel breaded Fried Calamari, served with a carrot, jalapeno and chili-lime dipping sauce. Both items are available this week.

Philly Free School and Nice Things Handmade Present Holiday Shopping at Superfantastic Craft Bazaar

East Passyunk's Nice Things Handmade and The Philly Free School announce the first annual “Superfantastic Craft Bazaar” on Saturday, December 7, 2013, from 11:00am to 5:00pm, at 2001 Christian Street, Philadelphia. Over 35 local artisans and crafters will transform the school’s roller-skating rink into a holiday wonderland filled with one-of-a-kind gifts, sculpted jewelry, home décor, handmade paper, art prints, hand painted glassware, aeriums, apparel, stuffed toys and much more. Family fun will include face painting, caricatures, make-and-take ornaments, paint-your-own ceramics and free candy canes. Ultimo Coffee, Weckerly’s Ice Cream, Philly Free School and other vendors will provide hot beverages, seasonal treats and lunchtime snacks. Admission is free.
