Philadelphia Zoo Lights Up A Million Holiday Lights for Dazzling Return of LumiNature

Philadelphia Zoo (3400 W. Girard) announces the dazzling return of LumiNature Presented by Chase, from November 18th to January 9th. The giant-sized holiday extravaganza will transform the entire Zoo into a dazzling winter wonderland. Guests will experience a magical journey of lights, music, sounds and surprises. LumiNature will feature 14 illuminated experience zones that will feature lively themed displays, newly-enhanced installations and hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights. Highlights will include a 100 ft-long aquarium tunnel, enormous jellyfish, a brand new octopus tree, a 21-feet tall brilliant colored snake, hundreds of illuminated penguins, giant cat eyes glowing in the dark of night, a 22-feet-tall Butterfly Tree, a new Wilderness Express Train, and a 25-foot tree made entirely of lit flamingo lawn ornaments.

Philadelphia Theatre Company Announces 2021-2022 Season And A Return To The Suzanne Roberts Theatre

Philadelphia Theatre Company is ready to welcome audiences back into the Suzanne Roberts Theatre for the return of live, in-person theatre. The 2021-2022 season will feature two world premiere plays, a Tony Award-winning play with soaring gospel and R&B music, and a chance for audiences to reawaken their senses. The curtain rises again with The Garbologists by Lindsay Joelle, a Co-World Premiere with the City Theatre in Pittsburgh. The comedy runs November 11 to December 5, 2021. The season continues in the new year with Tarell Alvin McCraney’s NYC smash hit Choir Boy, set to run from February 18 to March 13, 2022. Choir Boy will be directed by PTC Resident Artist Jeffrey Page. The season concludes with the World Premiere of Madeline Sayet’s solo show, Where We Belong, from April 15 to May 8, 2022.

Christmas Village in Baltimore Announces Return to Inner Harbor for 2021 Holiday Season

Christmas Village in Baltimore announces it will return to Inner Harbor for the coming 2021 holiday season. After being cancelled due to the mandatory shut-down last year, the traditional German Christmas Market again will light up West Shore Park from Thanksgiving (November 25th) through Christmas Eve (December 24th), with a special preview weekend planned for November 20 and 21, 2021. This beloved annual Charm City tradition will feature 50+ local small businesses, makers and international vendors, with something for everyone on Santa’s shopping list. Come ready to shop for toys, apparel, jewelry, decorations, home decor, artwork and much more. Famous German vendor Käthe Wohlfahrt will return with thousands of glass ornaments, nutcrackers, pyramids and limited-edition holiday decorations. Vendors will be located outside in traditional festively-decorated wooden huts, plus inside the giant heated festival tent. The 65 ft. tall Ferris Wheel, located right next to the Baltimore Visitor Center, will be returning in its full glory to add to the holiday and festive vibes. For foodies, get ready to follow the delicious smell of gingerbread and freshly charcoal-grilled brats.

Philly AIDS Thrift, in collaboration with Philadelphia Film Society, presents a special Halloween-themed, family-friendly, socially distanced night at the movies! Philly AIDS Thrift 16th Anniversary Drive-In Movie Night featuring Stanley Kubrick's “The Shining” will take place at Philadelphia Navy Yard on Wednesday, October 13th, 2021, with doors opening at 6:00pm and showtime at 7:00pm. The Halloween classic is the perfect choice for the non-profit organization that has become known as one of the largest retail stores for costumes, accessories and decoration during the spooky season each and every year. In addition to the Drive-In Movie Night, Philly AIDS Thrift will give away birthday cake on October 16th (first come, first served) and host their annual 50% art sale including all frames and art supplies. Inis Nua Theatre presents the American Premiere of A HOLY SHOW by up-and coming Irish playwright Janet Moran. The Irish phrase “a holy show” means to embarrass or make a spectacle of oneself, the perfect title for this whirlwind comedy based on the true story of a disgraced Australian monk who hijacked a passenger jet using nothing but holy water. A HOLY SHOW takes place in 1981 as Aer Lingus flight 164 to London is about to board. We meet passengers like Tina and Joe who are on their honeymoon, Bun who is off to meet her new granddaughter, Mary who is nervously flying for the first time, and Downey who is on a mission to learn the Third Secret of Fatima at any cost. The production will be directed by Barrymore Award-nominated director and Inis Nua Founder and Artistic Director Tom Reing. Previews begin Wednesday, October 6, with opening night on Friday, October 8.

Returning for its 14th season, Christmas Village in Philadelphia will once again transform LOVE Park and City Hall (Courtyard and North Apron) into a traditional, open-air German Christmas Market, open daily between Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 25th and Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24th, with a preview weekend planned for November 20 to 21, 2021. New and returning for this year, Christmas Village will present an extra magical surprise with a double-tier Christmas Village carousel in the City Hall Courtyard, along with a brand-new German food court in the Courtyard. After taking a break last year due to the pandemic, the grand Ferris Wheel and the Kid’s Train will be back, along with vendors on the City Hall North Apron.

The Story Brings Stunning New Coffee Shop and Bookstore to Downtown Ardmore

Continuing the explosion of new businesses opening in Ardmore, downtown now welcomes The Story – a coffee shop and bookstore located at 45 E. Lancaster Avenue. Most recently, the building was the 843 VFW outpost, where it served veterans in the Ardmore area for over 30 years. Owners have taken the former outpost and renovated it with thrifted, repurposed and donated decor that all hold hundreds of years of history - including the 1893 Schomacker & Co. piano, the circa 1923 bar chairs, the custom lion-head bar from a local mansion, the book wall with chapters unfolding above the plush vintage lounger - and the feature wall designed and hand-papered by Carissa Robinson from Creator Studio in Philly.
