Theatre Exile Presents Philadelphia Premiere of Erotic Thriller Smoke by Kim Davies

Following five Barrymore wins, and the sold-out and critically acclaimed production of Rizzo, Theatre Exile continues their 19th season with the Philadelphia premiere of Smoke by Kim Davies. Studio X (1340 S. 13th Street) is the intimate setting for this disquieting erotic thriller that carves away the layers of the human condition to expose our deepest self-deceptions. A playful game of cat and mouse turns a coincidental encounter between two strangers into a dangerous struggle for power. Previews begin on Thursday, February 18, 2016 and press opening night is Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 8:00pm. The show runs for a total of 21 performances through Sunday, March 13, 2016. Inis Nua Theatre Partners with Free Library on American Premiere of Spine by Clara Brennan at New Drake Theater

Inis Nua Theatre Company turns a new page at The Drake with the American premiere of Spine, by English playwright Clara Brennan. Spine is a heart-warming, funny and defiant love-song to libraries, an increasingly endangered species under Britain's austerity government. A fiery and wise-cracking teenager forges an unlikely friendship with an elderly widow living in a house of stolen books. Together, the two discover they may be each other’s last resort in life. Spine opens on Friday, February 19 at 8:00pm, with previews on Wednesday, February 17 and Thursday, February 18 at 7:00pm. Spine runs for a total of 16 performances, through March 6, 2016, at the Louis Bluver Theatre at The Drake (1512 Spruce Street). Philly AIDS Thrift Announces $147,000 in Grants for 17 Local Organizations Fighting HIV/AIDS

Philly AIDS Thrift, in South Street Headhouse District, is pleased to award 17 local organizations with $147,000 in grant funding for their work in fighting HIV/AIDS in the Delaware Valley. Funds announced this week will bring PAT’s total contributions to the community to $1,470,000. Monies for the awards comes from two retail operations that turn gently used thrift items into retail sales that fund AIDS Fund and 19 other AIDS service organizations in the five-county region. The new semi-annual grant program started in 2014 as another way to serve the local community and give back. The next request for grant proposals will take place in fall for winter 2016-2017. This Black Friday, November 27, 2015, BRU Craft & Wurst and Captain Dan Conway from Captain Lawrence Brewing Company will tap a specially curated list of dark beers from eleven breweries starting at 11:00am. All special beers will be discounted to happy hour pricing of $4-5 until 7:00pm (or they run out). Chef also converted to the dark side with special $5.00 and $10.00 menu to pair with the brews.

Palladino's on Passyunk Introduces Saturday Brunch, Bloody Mary Trio and New Fall Dishes

Chef Luke Palladino announces new changes to his weekend brunch at Palladino’s on Passyunk - including Saturday brunch service, five new brunch drinks for $5 and several new brunch dishes. Saturdays and Sundays were meant for sipping on new cocktails that include a new Bloody Mary trio created with fresh seasonal produce (parsnip, pickled tomatillo and long hots) and house-made ingredients. Enjoy a new brunch twist on the “Citywide” with the Caffe Corretto (shot of La Colombe espresso spiked with choice of Sambuca, Strega or Galliano liqueur). Sweet and savory dishes - like Orange-Scented Ricotta Pancakes with Vermont Maple Syrup and Smoked Salmon Bruschetta topped with Poached Eggs – are additions to the menu. Proven-popular brunch dishes remain including Focaccia created with Chef Luke’s innovative toppings. A new fall version features a spicy baked-on sopressata, and each weekend will bring an additional special Focaccia ‘of the week’ made with the freshest, seasonal ingredients.
