BRU Craft & Wurst and U-Bahn Tap 46 Sours and Stouts During Sour Bowl II and Stout Bowl I in Midtown Village Philadelphia

BRU Craft & Wurst (1318 Chestnut St) and U-Bahn (1320 Chestnut St) present an all-star line-up of 46 sours and stouts this Pro BowlSunday, January 31, 2016, kicking off at 11:00am. Sour Bowl II returns to BRU with a full 32-tap takeover featuring 28 sours, including three traditional Belgian lambics and three scarce Russian River sours, plus four IPAs, including Pliny the Elder. Downstairs, U-Bahn presents 14 taps of highly sought-after stouts. No reservations or advance names will be taken. All selections will be specially priced $7-10, and are first come, first served. For more information about Sour Bowl II and Stout Bowl I, call (215) 800-1079 or visit www.facebook.com/BRUPhilly.

“Highlights for this one-day event include three traditional, real-deal Belgian lambics - Hannsen's Oude Lambic, Cantillon Kriek, and Tilquin L'Ancienne,” said Alex Bokulich, Operations Manager.  “These beers are staggeringly rare on draft in the United States. It’s also rare to offer three out-of-market sours available on draft at the same time from Russian River, but we’ll have Supplication, Consecration and Temptation all tapped at once - a minor coup. It has been done before, but that doesn't make it any less special.”

Limited sours from other breweries include two each from Jolly Pumpkin and Allagash as well as extremely limited beers from Jolly Pumpkin Rojzilla, Forgotten Tales; Allagash Nancy, Tiarna.

Underground at the debut of Stout Bowl, some of the most sought after stouts on the planet will be on draft including Ninkasi Ground Control, brewed with yeast that survived a trip to space, KBS, Abraxas, Deschutes Abyss, and Speedway variants (Vietnamese and Hawaiian).

ABOUT BRÜ

BRÜ Craft & Wurst is a German-style bier hall and wursthaus nestled in the heart of Midtown Village. The bar is bustling with German draughts and Philadelphia’s most aggressive list of American craft beers.  A self-serving station lets customers pour their own beers using special iPads. Other modern twists include ample outlets wired near bar seating for customers who need to be plugged in 24/7.

ABOUT U-Bahn

Located beneath BRÜ Craft & Wurst, U-Bahn is a 3,000 square foot subterranean clubhouse that plays off of the German railway system (Untergrundbahn). Two bars host 18 taps focused on German-style beers from Pennsylvania. The menu focuses on local flavors with house-made pickles, cheese boards, old school bar snacks and twists on Philadelphia’s favorite sandwiches. Retro-arcade games provide nostalgic fun.
