Philadelphia Restaurants Get Creative During Sweater Weather with Igloos, Greenhouses, Blankets and Shape-Shifting Beer Gardens

Sweater weather is here and while outdoor dining is still having a record moment during the most challenging of years, Philadelphia region restaurants and attractions are getting creative to survive the cold weather. Starting this weekend, private heated individual greenhouses are taking over a Center City street outside Harper's Garden. The Greenhouses at Harper's Garden by FCM Hospitality will debut tonight with private seating for four to nine people. Over in Northern Liberties, plastic igloos that seat two, four, six and up to nine are popping up poolside at the former Vesper Dayclub that has pivoted to a year-round high end steak-house by Glu Hospitality. Over at Charlie was a sinner and Bar Bombón customers are being kept warm inside and out with hot drinks out of thermos bottles, and free custom blankets to put on their lap while they enjoy sweater weather - and that they get to take home. In Bucks County, Pennsylvania, a few minutes from Philadelphia, Parx Casino has reopened their "shape-shifting" beer garden under a new name and layout.

Trunc In Northern Liberties Reopens And Hosts Fundraiser For The Colored Girls Museum

Trunc, located at 929 N. 2nd Street, is back open for business and hosting a special fundraiser for The Colored Girls Museum. Philadelphia's only black-owned, veteran owned and female-owned maker spaces and retail shops is now reopened for business in the heart of one of the city's hottest neighborhoods, Northern Liberties. The store opened in 2018 and after a full year of sales in 2019, was set to have a record year in 2020 when the global pandemic shut down all retail shops in March. After months of being closed, retail shops like Trunc are back open and opening again in Northern Liberties Business Improvement District. Trunc is open to start with in-person hours Fridays to Sundays, from Noon to 5:00pm, with a ten person shopping limit, masks required, ample hand sanitizer on hand and other precautions.

Northern Liberties Business Improvement District announces the debut of a new socially-distanced art exhibition and crawl titled Artists at Work. Artists at Work exhibition kicks off this weekend with interactive live demos in store fronts and windows this Saturday, September 12, 2020, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The exhibition will remain up after Saturday through September 30th. Artists at Work will showcase the many creative talents of seven local artists and makers and pair them with six maker and retail spaces in Northern Liberties along the North Second Street corridor.

Anejo Grand Opens First Location Outside of New York City in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia

Añejo Restaurant Group has come together with Glu Hospitality to bring Añejo to Philadelphia. The acclaimed Mexican restaurant and tequila bar will make its official grand opening debut this Friday, July 31, 2020 at 4:00pm in Northern Liberties at the Piazza, 1001 N. 2nd Street. This new location represents the restaurant's first expansion out of the New York City marketplace, where they also have locations in Hell's Kitchen and TriBeCa. The opening comes after the restaurant was days away from opening in March and which then experienced delays due to stay at home orders and the delay of indoor dining. Now, with an expansive, shaded, and beautiful outdoor parklette and sidewalk cafe ready to enjoy, Añejo will bring Philly its innovative Mexican cuisine, top quality service, and hospitality experience, plus expertise in cocktails and agave spirits.
