Philly AIDS Thrift Opens Philadelphia's Only Retail-Based Free, Drop-in HIV Testing Center Off of South Street

Philly AIDS Thrift celebrated AIDS Education Month with the opening of the Philly AIDS Thrift HIV Testing Center inside their retail store at 710 S. 5th Street, in South Street Headhouse District. Action AIDS, Bebashi, GALAEI, Mazzoni Center and Philadelphia FIGHT will provide free, drop-in, rapid testing and related counseling services. Opening day was on National HIV Testing Day, Saturday, June 27, 2015. Testing is now offered each month from Noon to 4:00pm on the first and third Saturday and Sunday, and the second and fourth Friday and Saturday. Hours for the fifth weekend will be announced. Ray of Hope Brings Cure One Day Closer - Main Line Center for Laser Surgery Hosts HopeCuts for City of Hope

City of Hope Philadelphia Fights Women's Cancers with 5K Walk

One in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in her lifetime. On Saturday, September 13, 2014, this reality will unite survivors and supporters during the 17th annual Women’s Cancer Walk by City of Hope Philadelphia. Look for a parade of purple and listen for the outpouring of hope as walkers travel from Campbell’s Field (401 Delaware Ave, Camden), across the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, to the Arch Street Meeting House (320 Arch St, Philadelphia). Registration starts at 8:00am, and the walk starts at 10:00am. Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for children at www.womenscancerwalk.org. Wale Announced for FREE Hip Hop for Philly Concert During AIDS Education Month

Philadelphia FIGHT and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia present the “Hip Hop for Philly” free concert featuring Grammy nominated and chart-topping hip hop artist Wale. Philadelphia FIGHT announces the calendar of events for the 20th annual AIDS Education Month, a one-of-a kind city-wide program held annually in June. AIDS Education Month (AEM) is a series of events, conferences and workshops to increase AIDS awareness and exchange the most up-to-date, advanced HIV information. Uninsured Children to Receive FREE Eye Exams and Glasses During Give Kids Sight Day

All uninsured and underinsured children can receive free eye screenings and, if needed, two free pairs of eyeglasses at “Give Kids Sight Day” on Saturday, April 12th, 2014. All children, 18 and under, will be examined on a first come, first served basis from 8:30am until 2:00pm. No insurance or appointments are necessary.

Children from Philadelphia and the suburbs who have failed an eye screening at school or have not had their eyes examined in the last year are strongly urged to attend. Registration for this free event will take place at the Hamilton Building at Thomas Jefferson University located at 10th and Locust Streets in Philadelphia.
