East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District (EPABID) and Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation (PARC) kick off the holidays with the annual Tree Lighting Party at the Singing Fountain (Tasker Street and East Passyunk Avenue) on Thursday, December 4, 2014, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The free celebration will include live music, carolers, holiday sweets, shopping and other surprises. Don’t forget to bring an unwrapped gift for a toy drive to benefit local youth. After the party, stay until 9:00pm for extended shopping hours as the Deck the Ave campaign kicks off with shopping, sales and other festivities during December. TREE LIGHTING PARTY + DECK THE AVE KICK-OFF

Starting at 5:00pm at the Singing Fountain enjoy carolers from Alphabet Academy, music by students from Andrew Jackson School, a holiday performance by the Joe King Trio, a visit from Santa Claus, sweets from Belle Cakery, Vanilya Bakery and Angela Ranalli of Le Virtu and Brigantessa, plus Stogie Joe’s pizza and hot chocolate from Black & Brew.

Guests are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Salvation Army through the CBS 3 and The CW Philly Share the Spirit Campaign. Look for collection bins and a special donation tent. 

From 7:00pm to 8:00pm, Mifflin Triangle (Mifflin Street and East Passyunk Avenue) will be abuzz with the holiday spirit as revelers gather for free sweet treats from Ms Goody Cupcake, a meet-and-greet with Santa Claus and plenty of festive holiday music. There will also be an opening reception for the new installation at the Filitalia International History of Italian Immigration Museum (1834 East Passyunk Avenue) with free refreshments. The exhibition will showcase photos through the decades, featuring shots of East Passyunk business owners and their family members that immigrated to East Passyunk, as well as historical photos of the Avenue.

Also, starting at 7:00pm, neighborhood businesses will extend hours and offer sales to celebrate the start of the Deck the Ave campaign. The Joe King Trio will stroll down the Avenue, leading shoppers to seasonal fun. Select restaurants and bars will offer dinner and drink specials through 9:00pm, including:
