Cinder Taps New Executive Chef, Debuts Happy Hour And New Food Menu

Teddy Sourias of Craft Concepts Group (BRU Craft & Wurst, U-Bahn, Uptown Beer Garden, Finn McCool's Ale House) announces a new chef, new menu and the debut of happy hour at Cinder at 1500 Locust Street. The Rittenhouse neighborhood cider/sour bar and artisan pizza kitchen welcomes Oliver Muguia as the new Executive Chef. Munguia debuts his first menu since taking over the kitchen, with over a dozen new dishes including pale ale mussels, arrabbiata wood-fired pizza, duck spring rolls, mojo shrimp and octopus, cherry and chevre salad and mushroom empanaditas. Six of the new dishes will be featured on Cinder's first-ever happy hour that runs Monday through Friday, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Happy hour specials include $5.00 appetizers, $8.00 mussels, $3.00 off all drafts, $3.00 off all wines by the glass, plus a featured wood-fired pie of the day. Dim Sum House Announces Grand Opening In University City This Wednesday

Jane Guo and Jackson Fu announce the grand opening of Dim Sum House by Jane G’s at 3939 Chestnut Street in University City this Wednesday, January 11, 2017. This expansive and stylish Old Shanghai inspired restaurant, bar and lounge features 6,000 square foot of space and will seat over 225 people in five unique dining spaces. Three talented chefs will show off their expertise in the kitchen with a menu that focuses on two authentic styles of Chinese dim sum (Shanghai and Cantonese), plus fried rice, noodles, chef specialties and familiar Chinese favorites. At the bar, look for a full line of spirits, 19 beers, 10 signature cocktails, and wine by the glass and bottle. The restaurant is located on the second floor, with the entrance found between 39th and 40th streets on Chestnut.

South Philly SausageFest Returns to West Passyunk Avenue

Newbold Community Development Corporation fires up the grills again for the 2nd Annual South Philly SausageFest on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm. South Philadelphia’s annual sausage-themed food fest takes place along West Passyunk Avenue (between South Broad and 15th streets). Look for sausage and sausage-inspired dishes cooked up in a variety of traditional and unique styles - including vegan - from ten restaurants and eateries that are part of the upcoming food scene on the other side of Broad Street. Festivities also include craft beer from seven breweries, live music, vendors and family fun. The event, sponsored by AFC Urgent Care, will be a fundraiser for the Newbold CDC’s Street Cleaning Program. Admission is free with food and drink pay-as-you-go. Old City District Debuts Old City Eats at 32 Top Philadelphia Restaurants

Old City District showcases its thriving dining scene with the debut of the largest restaurant program in at least 20+ years. Old City Eats debuts June 16 and runs every Thursday through August 25, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. 40 Bands to Rock South Street Spring Festival on Saturday, May 7, 2016

South Street Headhouse District announces that 40+ bands will rock the city on Saturday, May 7, 2016 during the 4th Annual South Street Spring Festival. The all-day, all-ages, free outdoor festival and concert will feature a mix of rock, funk, soul, hip hop, indie rock, reggae, R&B and country acts that will entertain an estimated 58,000+ people on three main stages and seven other performance areas on South Street and in Headhouse Square. Headhouse Square will also roll out the green for a special lawn concert with real grass for lounging and dancing in the sun! Festivities are free, with food and drink pay-as-you-go.
