Street Fare: Sip, Savor, Stroll, a Philadelphia food truck festival formerly known as Mt. Airy Night Market, brings tasty bites and beverages to Mt. Airy on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM.  (Rain date is Thursday, September 26, 2013.)  Sip and savor gourmet eats and drinks from 40+ of the region’s best gourmet food trucks and local restaurants stationed along Germantown Avenue, between Sedgwick and W. Mt. Airy Avenue. Stroll the Avenue for family fun, live music and handmade crafts. This annual street food festival, organized by Mt. Street Fare will pair award-winning mobile food vendors with notable local restaurants and bars for a night of street eats, craft brews, handcrafted cocktails and wine. Mt. Airy restaurants will include Avenida, Earth Bread + Brewery, Jyoti Indian Bistro, Little Jimmie’s Bakery Café, Trolley Car Diner and Wine Thief Bistro.  Food truck participants include Vendy award winner The Cow and the Curd, plus Farm Truck Philly, Street Food Philly, Ka’Chi, Sum Pig Food Truck, MacMart, Pitruco and more.  Dessert trucks will include Sweet Box Cupcakes, Cupcake Carnival, Zsa’s Gourmet Ice Cream and Vendy award winner Lil Pop Shop. A full list of vendors will be released in early September. 

While strolling along historic Germantown Avenue, shop from an artisan fair organized by Renaissance Craftables. Find a stunning new look inside the Smak Parlour Fashion Truck.  Enjoy free family fun with locally designed temporary tattoos from Mt. Airy-based Kadillac Tattoo, plus face painting, arts and crafts, sidewalk chalk art and more. Live music offerings will expand this year to two stages filled with sounds from Grammy nominated Sharon Katz & The Peace Train, Jimmy “Lil Pookie” Seraile, Lisa Chavous and the Second Line, The GTV’s and The Gin Canaries.

Mt. Airy is SEPTA-accessible with two regional rail lines that connect Mt. Airy to Center City Philadelphia. East Mt. Airy is served by the Chestnut Hill East line (formerly the R7) which runs through East Mt. Airy at the Mount Airy, Sedgwick, Stenton and Washington Lane stations. West Mt. Airy is served by the Chestnut Hill West line (formerly the R8) at the Allen Lane, Carpenter, Upsal and Tulpehocken stations. The neighborhood can also be reached by the H, XH, and 23 bus lines, which connect to the Broad Street Line at the Erie station, and the 18, which connects to the Broad Street Line at the Olney station.
