Glu Hospitality and Temple Announce New Restaurant for Former Draught Horse

Glu Hospitality and Temple University are proud to announce a brand new modern grill and sports bar in the former home of The Draught Horse. The Peabody will make its grand debut this fall at 1431 Cecil B. Moore Avenue, on the west side of Broad Street. The 6,000 square foot space will have 40 seats at the bar and another 150 in the dining area. A large private dining space can hold 50 guests and be split into two for private parties. There will also be outdoor seating on Cecil B. Moore. The menu will feature American cuisine presented by Executive Chef Chino Chang with a wide variety of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, entrees and more. The drink menu will include signature and seasonal cocktails designed by Glu's award winning beverage team that is known for cocktails at Leda and the Swan, Vesper Center City and Figo. In addition to cocktails, look for ten draft lines pouring, plus bottles and cans, with craft beer, popular domestic selections, ciders, hard seltzers and more. The food and drink menus are designed to cater to students, faculty, family, alumni and neighbors. When opened, The Peabody will offer lunch, happy hour and dinner seven days a week, with weekend brunch service.

Northern Liberties Night Market Returns to N. 2nd Street with Dozens of Food Trucks, Vendors and Music

The organizers of 2nd Street Festival announce the first-ever spring edition of the new Northern Liberties Night Market Series. This inaugural series of outdoor food festivals is rolling into the single fastest growing neighborhood in Philadelphia on Thursday, May 26th, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm, on N. 2nd Street between Fairmount and Poplar streets. This new event will take place every spring and fall and is a pivot and expansion by the operators of the city's 2nd Street Festival, which returns this summer after a pandemic break. For this pop-up food festival, look for dozens of food trucks, food vendors, shopping vendors, sidewalk cafes, entertainment, music, street performers, and other fun surprises. Northern Liberties Restaurant Week Returns to 20+ Restaurants from April 1st to April 10th

Northern Liberties Business Improvement District, one of the hottest and most notable food neighborhoods in Philadelphia, announces the 2nd Annual Northern Liberties Restaurant Week from Friday, April 1 to Sunday, April 10, 2022. Timed perfectly for the start of nice weather and expanded outdoor dining options, over 20 of the neighborhood's biggest names will offer two course (or more) lunches for $10 or $15, and three course dinners for $25 or $35. The Garden at Cherry Street Pier Returns with New Chef, Birria Tacos and Waterfront Views

Sip and savor on the Philadelphia waterfront at one of Philadelphia's largest and most beautiful outdoor eateries. FCM Hospitality announces the return of The Garden at Cherry Street Pier (121 N. Christopher Columbus Blvd.) starting April 16, 2022. The Garden is a sprawling, colorful and unique outdoor eatery and beer garden that features 20,000 square feet of space, seating for over 250 guests, outdoor tables, covering and shade, oversized games, lush greenery, colorful flowers, historic details, industrial vibes and picture perfect views. New Head Chef Miguel Angel Hernandez Mota is in the kitchen serving up a new menu focused around Mexi-Philly fare that includes the debut of Birria tacos. Dim Sum House owners Jane Guo and Jackson Fu announce the grand opening of Xi West Weddings and Private Events at 3939 Chestnut Street, 1st Floor. The mother-son duo are thrilled to debut the city's new Asian and female-owned wedding and special events venue and catering facility where they can now host wedding receptions, micro-weddings, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, baby showers, large group dining, private parties, corporate events and food festivals for up to 350 people. The stunning 6,000 square foot space cost over one million dollars for renovations and took four years to complete, after a two year delay during the pandemic. For event planners and couples, the space brings together modern industrial chic design, an exciting cocktail program and robust coffee service with traditional Chinese menus that range from dim sum offerings to signature rice, noodle dishes and seafood dishes. For higher end weddings seeking something extra special, the menu can include delicacies like Norwegian King Crab three ways. The space has a sleek and modern bar, lounge and cocktail space in the front on Chestnut Street on ground level, with a ballroom and event space through the larger doors, followed by a bridal room and oversized bathrooms. The space can seat up to 225 seated and 350 standing.

Jane Guo and Jackson Fu announce a brand new third location for Dim Sum House by Jane G's coming to Liberty Square at 1214 N. American Street. The mother and son duo will bring the city's largest dim sum restaurant, bar and lounge to the hottest and fastest growing area of the city, between the bustling Fishtown and Northern Liberties neighborhoods. The new restaurant will feature 6,000 feet of indoor space with seating for around 100+ guests, with the final numbers still in the works. For the first time ever, Dim Sum House will head outdoors with a stunning new covered dim sum and cocktail garden that will seat around 100+ guests and 3,000 square feet of space. The indoor and outdoor space combined make this the largest Dim Sum House restaurant to date. From the kitchen, guests will enjoy a menu that focuses on two authentic styles of Chinese dim sum (Shanghai and Cantonese), plus fried rice, noodles, chef specialties and familiar Chinese favorites from the Jiang Nan region of China. Notable favorites include Dim Sum House’s celebrated Pork Soup Dumplings, Dan Dan Noodles, Roast Pork Bao, Peking Duck, Pork Belly & Mustard Greens, Hot and Sour Soup, and Norwegian Whole King Crab done three ways. The menu will feature ample vegan, vegetarian and gluten free offerings. At the bar, look for a full line of spirits, 8 wines by the glass, over 35+ wines by the bottle and 8 cocktails (all inspired by awesome old school kung fu/martial arts movies). This location will have the largest selection of beers for any Dim Sum House location with eight on tap and around two dozen in total. Northern Liberties Business Improvement District is proud to announce the grand opening of Pera Turkish Cuisine, at 944 N. 2nd Street, in the very heart of the Northern Liberties Restaurant Row. Pera will bring Turkish cuisine to the growing mix of acclaimed international cuisine in the fast growing food neighborhood. Former roommates, friends, school mates and now business partners Eric Tunc and Chef Mehmet Ergin are both from Turkey and are living the American dream by moving to America and opening their first restaurant together. For layout, Pera is 1,000 square feet of dining space with a partially open kitchen, with a dining room that seats 36 people. Decor includes authentic Turkish decor and handmade plates from Turkey, beautiful exposed brick, unique lighting, ornate tiles and black walnut tables. For cuisine, the menu is a mix of traditional taste with modern presentation. Pera is BYO and the owners are happy to make wine and spirit recommendations. Pera's grand opening leads off six weeks and six grand openings for Northern Liberties, which will soon announce details for openings that will include The Shake Seafood, Ray's Reusables, 70six Boutique, Wag Watch and 1040 Creative Art Center and Gallery. Pera follows other recent openings that have included Figo Ristorante, Figo Pizzeria, Set NoLibs, Anejo Philadelphia, SUYA SUYA West African Grill, Parmigiana and others. Six more businesses will also soon be announced and or grand opening in late spring and into summer. The fast growth in retail and restaurants is just in time for the population growth of the neighborhood, which will literally double in size within two years.

Chef Jose Garces Introduces Chef Jennifer Zavala of Juana Tamale as Next Chef in Residency at Volver

Chef Jose Garces announces Chef Jennifer Zavala as the next Chef in Residency at Volvér on Kimmel Cultural Campus. Chef Zavala's residency will run from March 16 to May 1, 2022. Funding will help city programs benefiting black and brown youth; with a strong focus on access to resources for our communities dealing with gun violence. Currently, Zavala's menu will include Bunuelos y Caviar, Ceviche Verduras, Mexican Broccoli Tortita, Ensalada de Chickpeas, Bacalao y Tamal, Chile Relleno Nueces, “Friendship” Tacos, Mosaic Jello Terrine, and Corn & Honey Sundae. For the new Chefs in Residency Program, each Chef will showcase their top signature dishes on the Volvér menu for four to eight weeks, alongside Chef Garces' signature French-inspired dishes. Through a special donation program in partnership with the Garces Foundation, each Chef in Residency will have the opportunity to raise money to support their work with their current restaurant, or to use for the start of their next culinary journey. Volvér's hours for the season will be from Wednesday to Sunday, from 4:00pm to 9:00pm, with a special pre-theatre menu served from 4:00pm to 6:30pm, and happy hour from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.
