Uptown Beer Garden Hosts End-of-Summer BBQ Week with Half Acre Beer Company

Uptown Beer Garden (1735 JFK Blvd.) embraces the dog days of summer with new events that celebrate two of our favorite things: BBQ and BEER! Half Acre BBQ Week is underway and runs through Saturday, August 27th, featuring a slate of killer grill specials, plus Chicago’s Half Acre Brewing Co. will be taking over the taps on one of our two bars. For only five bucks a pop, enjoy some world-class core and seasonal beers, as well as some extreme rarities. 

Chef Jonathon Petruce will fire up Uptown's giant outdoor grill with a special BBQ menu featuring spare ribs, backyard burgers, chili dogs, Mexicorn, and smoked brisket on Texas toast. 

Chicago's Half Acre Beer Company will take over the taps at one of the outdoor bars with specially priced $5.00 drafts, including rarities: 
* Akari Shogun Wheat
* Pony Pils
* Get Right Kolch*
* Hot Tropic Coconut Pale Ale*
* Daisy Cutter
* Vallejo IPA
* Navaja Double IPA*

Kegs tap on Monday, and should stay on all week, but * items are limited- subject to sell out! All drafts for Half Acre are 16oz, except Navaja/10oz. 

On Saturday, August 27th, Uptown's Half Acre BBQ Week ends with a bang. Carton BBQ Saturday will feature specials from above, plus taps from cult favorite Carton Brewing, including: 
* Boat Beer (session ale) 
* Whit Whale (Hoppy Wit Beer) 
* Brunch. Dinner. Grub.  - "Country Brown Ale" 
* Rickey - "Gin Rickey" Sour
* Sakura - "Japanese Gose" 
* Rub - "Dry Rub Porter" 

All drafts for Carton are $7 for 10oz, Half Acre drafts will also still be available for $5.00. Half Acre BBQ Week and Carton BBQ Saturday are free with no admission, 21 and up to enter and drink with identification. Food and drink is pay-as-you-go. Specials will be updated on Uptown Beer Garden on Facebook as the week progresses. 
 


Looking ahead to the fall, Uptown Beer Garden is also planning the debut of a two-day Oktoberfest at Uptown Beer Garden. On Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25, Uptown will be taken over with beer, sausage, pretzels, bands, games, and other surprises - all in honor of the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig I & Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. 

Uptown Beer Garden will double the size and number of bars for the weekend, and serve a full slate of favorites from Das Vaterland, including Pretzels, Wurst, Schnitzel, and Spazel. Taps will flow with an abundance of local and imported lagers, and there will be keepsake 1L Boot steins to hoist. Save the date and stay tuned for UpToberfest information to be announced soon. 

ABOUT UPTOWN BEER GARDEN

Uptown Beer Garden celebrates its second season at 1735 JFK on the South side of JFK Blvd between 17th and 18th streets. The 9,000 square foot space is nestled among the trees of the courtyard of the BNY Mellon Wealth building and features tree slab communal tables, outdoor lighting, three bars, rustic decor and access to the BNY Atrium. 

Chef Jonathan Petruce is the chef for this season, firing up his elevated versions of his favorite street food and barbecue favorites on a giant outdoor grill. Bars feature a selection of spirits, select wines, eight craft drafts and four craft cans. Signature cocktails will include Sangria, Dark n' Stormy/Moscow Mule, frozen Margaritas, and seasonal specialty cocktails. The craft draft list includes Uptown IPA (custom made for Uptown Beer Garden), Neshaminy Creek Trauger Pils, Half Acre Daisy Cutter, Ballast Point Wahoo White and Sprecher Grapefruit Radler. 

Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, and include $4 drafts (all eight choices), $5 apps and $6 sandwiches.  For Center City SIPS on each Wednesday, Uptown will pouring four different $3 drafts, $4 house wine, $5 Green Tea Whiskey Sours and Moscow Mules, plus serve select half priced apps.

New and updated hours for late summer and early fall are:

Monday and Tuesday, 5:00pm to 10:00pm
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 2:00pm to Midnight
Sunday, Special events or private parties only

The tentative closing date for Uptown for 2016 is September 30, 2016.
