Parks On Tap Returns For Fifth Year With New Summer-Long Location in Philadelphia
/Parks on Tap is back for its fifth season of supporting Philadelphia’s parks. The traveling outdoor beer garden that gives back will adapt to social distancing rules for the new season by implementing a stationary beer garden in several fixed locations. The first summer-long location will open on Friday, June 12th outside on the grounds of the Fairmount Horticulture Center Arboretum (100 N. Horticultural Drive). It will feature fresh food, beers on tap, wine and non-alcoholic beverages set in an outdoor environment with comfortable chairs and clean restrooms. During the global pandemic, the program will be more important than ever as residents look for hyper-local outdoor options with ample room for social distancing. In order to keep patrons and employees safe, look for a number of new safety measures that will also include additional cleaning measures, ability for contact tracing, and other measures as prescribed by the City of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania. Parks on Tap is family (and fido) friendly. Season hours for Parks on Tap at the Fairmount Horticulture Center will be Monday to Friday, from 4:00pm to 10:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 10:00pm. A free membership is required. Food and drink are pay-as-you-go. Seating is first come, first served. For more information on the Parks on Tap safety plan and directions, please visit www.parksontap.com.
For 2020, FCM Hospitality first wants to acknowledge and share the City of Philadelphia’s Safer at Home strategy, and for those who do venture outside, FCM announces the return of one of Philadelphia’s most beloved summer traditions.
Parks on Tap is back for 2020 starting this Friday with a summer-long pop-up location outside Fairmount Horticulture Center (100 N. Horticultural Drive). The Horticulture Center is a modern exhibition hall and greenhouse, located in beautiful West Fairmount Park. The Center is home to many interesting pieces of art, including fountains and sculpture displayed throughout the grounds to accent the plants. In the outdoor display, Gambol II by Robert David Lasus can be seen behind the Cherry Allée and from Belmont Avenue. The Center was built in 1979 and sits on the site of the former Horticultural Hall and 1876 Centennial Exposition building.
The set-up for the beer garden outside the Horticulture Center will be self-contained within roped boundaries, providing its own power, bathrooms, food and drink trucks, seating, shade and lights - all without use or dependency of existing park facilities. This means more money can be raised and make a direct impact on park improvements and future programming.
