Mt. Airy Announces List of 45 Food Trucks and Restaurants for Street Fare

Say Cheese, Food Truck, Street Fare, Mt. Airy, Sip Savor Stroll

Street Fare: Sip, Savor, Stroll (formerly Mt. Airy Night Market) will dish up tasty bites and unique beverages from 45 food trucks, carts and local restaurants on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 6:00pm to 10:30pm. (Rain date is Thursday, September 26, 2013.)  Additionally, Mt. Airy USA announces a special outdoor simulcast of the Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid’s homecoming game at which Donovan McNabb’s number will be retired. Other festivities to be stationed along Germantown Avenue, between Sedgwick and W. Mt. Airy Avenue, will include two stages of live entertainment, an artisan craft fair, a fashion truck and a new family activity zone. This annual street food festival, organized by Mt. Trolley Car Diner, Mt. Airy, Street Fare, Sip Savor Stroll

Street Fare will pair award-winning mobile food vendors with notable local restaurants and bars for a night of street eats, craft brews, handcrafted cocktails and wine. Mt. Airy restaurants and menu items will include:

  • Earth Bread + Brewery - Craft-brewed beers
  • Herb Scott Catering - Grilled meat and veggie skewers + grilled peaches
  • Jyoti Indian Bistro - Kati rolls, chickpea curry and matar paneer

While strolling along historic Germantown Avenue, shop from an artisan fair organized by Renaissance Craftables. Find a stunning new look inside the Smak Parlour Fashion Truck.  Live music offerings will expand this year to two stages filled with sounds from Grammy nominated Sharon Katz & The Peace Train, “Lil Pookie & the Zydeco Sensations”, Lisa Chavous and the Second Line, The GTV’s and The Gin Canaries.

A new family activity zone has been added at Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church, corner of Germantown Avenue and Mt. Pleasant Ave, between 6:00pm and 8:00pm.  A baby care tent will be managed by Pre-School Plus with comfy chairs for nursing, baby changing tables, diaper bags, hand sanitizer, spray bottles with disinfecting spray and lots of paper towels. Mt. Airy-based Kadillac Tattoo will offer specially designed (local-themed) temporary tattoos.  Rhino Chiropractic will present food jewelry making activities. Mt. Airy Presbyterian will host free-form drawing and coloring. Blue Banyan Yoga will offer kids’ yoga activities.  There will also be an open play and hang out area on the grass where families can sit and relax in this safe space.

An outdoor simulcast of Andy Reid’s homecoming game with the Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs will be projected at 7048 Germantown Avenue thanks to Northwest Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network (NPIHN) beginning at 8:15 pm. Several restaurants and bars will also feature the game inside.

Mt. Airy is SEPTA-accessible with two regional rail lines that connect Mt. Airy to Center City Philadelphia. East Mt. Airy is served by the Chestnut Hill East line (formerly the R7) which runs through East Mt. Airy at the Mount Airy, Sedgwick, Stenton and Washington Lane stations. West Mt. Airy is served by the Chestnut Hill West line (formerly the R8) at the Allen Lane, Carpenter, Upsal and Tulpehocken stations.
