South Street Ready To Rock N Roll During South Street Spring Festival

South Street Headhouse District announces 30+ bands are ready to rock n roll at this year’s South Street Spring Festival on Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 11:00am to 8:00pm. The all-day, all-ages, free outdoor festival and concert will feature a mix of rock, funk, soul, hip hop, indie rock, reggae, R&B and country acts entertaining tens of thousands from three stages and seven performance areas. In addition to music and other live entertainment, look for 125+ vendors, 35+ restaurants and eateries, and 24 makers and artists. South Street Spring Festival runs on South (between Front and 8th) and along Headhouse Plaza (between South and Lombard), plus connecting side streets.

Historical Society Honors Author, History Advocates and Unveils New Exhibit

On May 3, 2017, The Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP) will honor author James McBride with the Founder’s Award, the institution’s most prestigious accolade, in recognition of the National Book Award winner’s exemplary service to the history community. James McBride and the Good Lord Bird Band, a gospel/jazz quintet, will also perform at the gala.

East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District presents Flavors on the Avenue: A Street Festival on Sunday, April 30, 2017, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. The brand-new street festival will feature five blocks of street food, seasonal sips, craft beer, live music, sidewalk sales and free family fun on five blocks – from Broad to Dickinson streets. Twenty-seven award-winning restaurants and bars will bring their signature cuisine outside under the blue skies. Craft beer and wine will pour from the festival beer tent – and select restaurants will also offer seasonal cocktails, beer and wines for the crowds.

80s and 90s with four new shows at Valley Forge Music Fair. Get ready to travel back in time for your favorite hits starting with Barenaked Ladies on April 22nd, followed by rocker Eddie Money on May 12th, rounded out by rock-powerhouse Starship featuring Mickey Thomas on June 2nd, and finally, find out “Who’s Bad?” with a Michael Jackson tribute on June 16th. The Barenaked Ladies will be in the Event Center and start at 8:00pm, with doors opening at 7:00pm. Eddie Money, Starship with Mickey Thomas and Who’s Bad will take place at The Venue starting at 9:00pm, with doors opening at 8:00pm. After a sold-out run for Lost Girls, Theatre Exile closes their 20th anniversary season with Buzzer by Tracey Scott Wilson. Gentrification comes to a head as the thought-provoking social drama fans the flames of love, race, class and privilege. This Philadelphia premiere explores the effects of a changing neighborhood on three 20-somethings that share a long and winding history -- and a not-so-certain future. Buzzer is directed by Exile’s Associate Artistic Director Matt Pfeiffer and features Akeem Davis, Alex Keiper, Matteo Scammell. The show is presented with support from Honorary Producers Linda and David Glickstein, Associate Producer Gayle Smith, and Season Sponsor Bruce and Giuliana Zallie of Zallie’s ShopRite Supermarkets.

33rd Street Hospitality Announces The Debut Of The Revolution Taco Food Truck - Ready To Roll For Spring Event Season

33rd Street Hospitality Catering is taking the tacos on the road! Chefs Michael Sultan and Carolyn Nguyen announce the debut of the Revolution Taco Food Truck - inspired by their brick and mortar at 2015 Walnut Street. The food truck will feature many customer favorites from the menu at the Rittenhouse Square eatery, along with several food truck exclusives. The truck will also serve as a testing ground for new dishes to be added to the restaurant’s menu. Philadelphia’s newest food truck will make its official debut at three of the spring’s biggest neighborhood food festivals, including StrEAT Food Festival in Manayunk (April 9), Cinco De Mayo at the Piazza at Schmidt's Commons (May 5) and South Street Spring Festival (May 6).

Teddy Sourias of Craft Concepts Group (BRU Craft & Wurst, U-Bahn, Uptown Beer Garden, Finn McCool's Ale House) announces a new chef, new menu and the debut of happy hour at Cinder at 1500 Locust Street. The Rittenhouse neighborhood cider/sour bar and artisan pizza kitchen welcomes Oliver Muguia as the new Executive Chef. Munguia debuts his first menu since taking over the kitchen, with over a dozen new dishes including pale ale mussels, arrabbiata wood-fired pizza, duck spring rolls, mojo shrimp and octopus, cherry and chevre salad and mushroom empanaditas. New Spring Break Camp Lets Children Run Off And Join The Circus

Philadelphia School of Circus Arts announces a brand new, full-day Spring Break Circus Camp for students looking to run off to the big top. Children (ages seven to fourteen) are invited to walk the wire, take to the air and juggle their creativity from 9:00am to 3:00pm, between April 10-14, 2017, at PSCA's studio (5900A Greene Street).
