Stina BYO Hosts Greek Barbecue And Two Year Anniversary Celebration

One of South Philadelphia's most celebrated BYO's is on the road to recovery and hosting a special celebration this coming weekend. Celebrated Chef Bobby Saritsoglou and Christina Kallas-Saritsoglou will host Stina's Two Year Anniversary Party on Saturday, June 5th, from 12:00pm to 10:00pm, with a special Greek-style barbecue, pop-up by Stickman Brews, and live traditional Rembetiko style Greek music. The daytime celebration runs from 12:00pm to 4:00pm with the Stickman Brews Pop-up, Greek BBQ and Lunch Specials. In the evening, Stina will host live music all evening while Chef cooks up his award-winning cuisine. Stina BYO is located at 1705 Snyder Avenue, in Newbold and West Passyunk Neighborhoods.

"Like so many businesses we were devastated by the pandemic and shut-down orders, but with the love and support of our community, we pulled through and couldn't be more grateful to still be operating," said Chef Saritsoglou. "We are so thrilled to be here and to be doing what we love. While things aren't back to the way they were before we initially closed down, things are looking up and the time seemed right to celebrate and say thanks to our neighborhood."

For Stina's Two Year Anniversary Party, Stickman Brews will be popping by brewing up American twists on Belgian inspired beers, IPA’s and all things in between from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. STINA LOOKS TO THE FUTURE

After a two-year build out to get every detail right, Stina opened in 2019 as Philadelphia's restaurant with a social mission. After the doors opened, Chef and the restaurant quickly received numerous accolades from Philadelphia Magazine, Philadelphia Style and Philadelphia Inquirer. Stina was named one of the top 50 best restaurants in Philadelphia, and Inquirer food critic called Chef's octopus dish the best in the city. Before Stina even got to celebrate its one year anniversary, COVID19 hit the restaurant industry and Stina was closed for over four months. Now, nearly a year later, Stina is on the active road to recovery with outdoor dining, a beautiful steetery, take-out and delivery.

Just in time for summer, things are looking up for the eclectic and mission-driven BYO. The sidewalk and street scene has never been stronger. The duo have designed and built an outdoor streetery that is an extension of their indoor dining room and its many charms. And with that, the husband-wife team are actually extending a piece of themselves and their very own home a few blocks away that the indoor dining room is modelled after. For each patron who passes by and takes a seat, there is that warm, inviting and familiar vibe ready to greet them.

For this weekend, both the anniversary but also in honor of the nearby Philadelphia Flower Show, the streetery is looking extra colorful and festive. Chef decorated the streetery top to bottom and was named a finalist in the Philadelphia Flower Show city-wide competition. In fact, the timing of the contest and the Flower Show couldn't have been better paired with Stina's anniversary. Kallas-Saritsoglou said, "The streetery outside Stina has never looked more beautiful. We invite everyone to make it a day to remember in South Philly. Head to the first-ever outdoor version of the Philadelphia Flower Show, then make it a day in our neighborhood by stopping to celebrate with Bobby's amazing cooking, lots of beer and of course live music. The planets couldn't have aligned any better for a terrific celebration."

RESTAURANT WITH A SOCIAL MISSION

In addition to creating fresh delicious Mediterranean fare, their mission is to highlight, support and donate to a different organization each month, who are making an impact in people's lives. To date they've been able to give away over 10K to 14 local organizations

"We created Stina to express love for food, our culture, our community and each other...celebrate with us!," said Chef Saritsoglou. "We are so happy to be able to do what we love, give back and help make our community a better place. We can't express how grateful we are!"

Stina will return this month to giving back and supporting a different local charity each month. For Philly Gay Pride Month, 1% of sales for the month will be donated to The Attic Youth Center. On Tuesday, June 29th, Stina will additionally give 20% of that days sales to the organization from 4:00pm to 10:00pm.

Since opening their doors, Stina has donated to the following organizations: SEAMAAC, Juntos, Women In Transition, Stephen Girard Elementary, Puentes De Salud, Philadelphia Bail Fund, West Passyunk Neighbors Association, Project Home, Books Through Bars, Unity In the Community, Punks With Lunch, Homies Helping Homies, Lil Filmmakers and Empowering Cuts.
