A Magical Night of Mystery and Deception Debuts at the Speakeasy at Vesper Center City

Vesper Center City announces the debut of Deceptions: A Magical Night of Mystery and Deception featuring the many talents of Mervant the Deceptionist. After pivoting during the pandemic, Mervant has become a top celebrity on AirBnb where he booked over 700 virtual performances. Now, he will take his show live and in-person with help from Glu Hospitality and producers Smoke and Mirrors. This new performance experience will take place in Vesper's hidden speakeasy every Thursday and every Saturday night at 6:30pm, with doors opening at 6:00pm, starting November 18th and 20th. Audiences should come ready to be dazzled with a combination of illusion, deception and mentalism. Seating is intimate and limited to only 40 people at a time, so don’t miss your chance to experience this one-of-a-kind show, unique to downtown Philly. Cocktails and small bites are available before, during and after the performance.

Bristol Riverside Theatre’s (120 Radcliffe Street) 35th Anniversary Season continues with Bucks County premiere of TONY Nominee (Ain’t Too Proud) Dominique Morriseau’s timely play about four Detroit auto workers, Skeleton Crew. This OBIE Award recipient and multiple Audelco Award winner in its 2016 premiere at Atlantic Theatre Company in New York is the third play in her Detroit Project (A three play cycle that includes Paradise Blue and Detroit ‘67). The BRT production is directed by Cameron Knight, the new head of the BFA Acting Program at Rutgers University and features an ensemble of actors making their BRT debuts.

Northern Liberties Presents Hound-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest and Festival to Help Street Tails

Philadelphia's largest Halloween pet costume contest is back - and cuter than ever! Northern Liberties Business Improvement District partners with Street Tails Animal Rescue on the 7th Annual Hound-O-Ween Fall Festival and Doggie Costume Contest. The event is back in person and moves to the intersection of Laurel and N. 2nd Street, on Sunday, October 31st, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. This year, to ensure proper health and safety protocols, 40 of the region's most festively decked out pets are invited to strut across the stage. Contestants will compete for prizes in four categories for prizes, plus all pets will compete for the grand prize of $500, sponsored by Wilson’s Estate Jewelry. Registration for this annual benefit is only a $30 donation per pet. All proceeds benefit Street Tails Animal Rescue in their mission to help homeless and unwanted animals in the Philadelphia area.

Center City's largest and most celebrated beer garden is back! Craft Concepts Group and Teddy Sourias announce the return of Uptown Beer Garden at a new permanent and year-round home at 1500 JFK Boulevard. The picturesque urban oasis comes complete with stunning views, expanded menus, additional shading, lush greenery, original artwork, more dining space and even bigger vibes. The 18,000+ square foot space offers seating for 350 guests and private event space for up to 700 guests. Chef Craig Meyers and his culinary team will fire up the menu using the concerted giant food truck that is now installed in Uptown's central garden. The Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons in Northern Liberties will host the 2017 Official Draft Party of the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, June 22 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fans are invited to watch the 2017 NBA Draft broadcast live on the Piazza’s 400-square-foot HD LED screen. The Sixers hold the third overall pick in addition to four second-round selections. While they watch the draft on the big screen, guests will enjoy appearances by Sixers legends, mascot Franklin, Sixers Dancers and more. The party will also feature a live DJ, trivia contests, vendors, silent auction, and food and drink specials from restaurants within the Piazza.
