Interior of Johnny Manana's

“When you step inside Mañana’s we want you to leave your worries behind,” said co-owner Tim Bonnie. “Live for the moment and enjoy the party with us! Whether you are a resident in the building, a nearby neighbor or visiting us from across town, we look forward to hosting you and your friends and family.”

For the opening of the new Mañana’s, Bonnie is joined by co-owner Bianca DeSantis. Together, the pair began work on the project in late spring of 2018. The two bring back an iconic and well-known brand that dates back to the original in 2001 in East Falls. Bonnie said, “We wanted to bring back Johnny Mañana’s and take the concept to the next level. This will be one of our largest Johnny Mañana’s to date - and the space really fit the personality of what we wanted to achieve.”

Bonnie went on to explain, “The name comes from a fictional character we created, ‘Johnny,’ who lives for today. He is the life of the party with a welcoming, charismatic and adventurous personality. He lives for the day and treasures time with friends and family. Every day is a fiesta! That is our goal here - for every day to be a celebration of good times, great food and drink, and an atmosphere that matches.”

VIBE

“Our goal for Johnny Mañana’s at the Goldtex Building was to create a fun and authentic atmosphere,” said Bonnie. “Tobie Warren did a great job of creating a design that pays homage to our love for Mexican culture, with bright bold colors and a Day of the Dead reverence.”

Throughout the dining room and bar, look for bold, colorful and playful artwork and designs that play on the Day of the Dead imagery with a fiesta vibe. The interior uses warm colors mixed with natural, reclaimed woods, weather textures, corrugated metals, and ambient lighting. All design items were created by Tobie Warren of Philadelphia. Some pieces also were saved and brought back from the original location - including the saloon front doors displayed on the wall.

NEIGHBORHOOD

“We are excited to be back with a new Mañana’s that is more bar-centric,” said Bonnie. “The Goldtex Building was the perfect location. It is in the heart of the city near exciting projects like the Rail Park, Reading Terminal and Pennsylvania Convention Center. It is such an exciting time for the entire city’s restaurant and bar scene, and we are excited to be part of that energy.”

Johnny Mañana’s is located in the former home of Brick and Mortar. The restaurant and bar is next to neighboring Elixir Coffee, that is also located inside Post Brothers’ Goldtex Building. Johnny Mañana’s and Elixir are only a few short steps from exciting new developments in the Loft District - and both locations make for a great spot to visit before or after a trip to the Philadelphia Rail Park. The Goldtex Building is also conveniently located just a few short blocks from major Philadelphia tourist attractions, such as the Pennsylvania Convention Center and Reading Terminal Market.
