"Historic Holidays Return to Old City" Festivities Begin on Small Business Saturday and Run Through the New Year
/Celebrate the season in America’s most historic square mile with Historic Holidays in Old City!
Festivities kick off on Small Business Saturday, November 24, with the launch of the brand new Old City Holiday Market, presented by Fezziwig’s Sweet Shoppe! The pop-up Holiday Market, organized by local businesses and located at The Clay Studio’s parking lot (137-139 N. 2nd Street), will feature trees, wreaths, and other holiday greenery by Petit Jardin en Ville, one-of-a-kind gifts from some of Old City’s shops and galleries, and seasonal sips and bites from local restaurants!

HISTORIC HOLIDAYS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY
The festivities continue with the second annual Historic Holidays Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, November 29, from 5:00-8:00pm. The kickoff celebration will take place at the Betsy Ross House courtyard (239 Arch Street) and will feature Betsy Ross, music performances, seasonal sips and bites, and a holiday tree designed by Old City’s Petit Jardin en Ville!
In addition, do your holiday shopping in one place, and enjoy some seasonal dishes and sips in Old City! Participating boutiques, shops, art galleries, museums, restaurants and cafes around the neighborhood will host offer extended hours and specials following the Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 29.
“Historic Holidays in Old City celebrates all that makes the neighborhood unique. There is something for everyone in Old City,” said Job Itzkowitz, Old City District Executive Director.
OLD CITY’S WINDOW DECORATING CONTEST
As part of Historic Holidays in Old City, start a charming new holiday tradition with Old City’s Window Decorating Contest! Wander the historic streets of Old City, and view the delightful displays designed by local shops, restaurants, museums, galleries, and more. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite design for a chance to win an Old City Prize Pack. Don’t miss the window display at 24 N. 3rd Street, which features the prizes you can win!
The contest will begin on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 5:00pm and end on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 5:00pm. Visit oldcitydistrict.org for information on how to enter and complete contest rules.

Shop the Museum Store for unique holiday gift items, including a special commemorative ornament for collecting. The House is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Admission to the Betsy Ross House is just $5 for adults and $4 for children, seniors and active military. Upgrade to an audio tour, led by Betsy, herself, for just $2 more.
