Christmas Village Brings Holiday Surprises to Baltimore with New Preview Weekend, New Layout, New Tree Lighting, New Beer Tastings, and More Food

Christmas Village in Baltimore is ready to transform West Shore Park (501 Light Street) into a traditional indoor and outdoor German Christmas Market. For the new holiday season, this annual Baltimore tradition will open early with a brand-new preview weekend on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18, 2018. Christmas Village will then open regular hours for the season starting on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22nd through Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24th. During the preview, visitors are invited to catch a first glimpse at the remodeled event venue featuring not only an indoor area, but also an extended outdoor area with booths along the Inner Harbor promenade and a twenty-one-foot-tall Christmas tree right next to the PANDORA Ice Rink. The Christmas Tree, provided by Christmas Village, will be part of the new Holiday District in the Inner Harbor. The Official Tree Lighting Ceremony in partnership with Waterfront Partnership is set for the first day of the preview, on November 17th.

Theatre Philadelphia Celebrates the Delaware Valley's Thriving Theatre Scene with Return of the 2018 Barrymore Awards and Celebration

Theatre Philadelphia proudly announces the 2018 nominees for the Barrymore Award for Excellence in Theatre. Celebrating the rich, diverse professional theatre scene in the Greater Philadelphia region, the Barrymore Ceremony will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 7:00pm at the Bok Building at 1901 S. 9th Street in South Philadelphia. Guests will continue the festivities with an after-party Celebration at the same location. Philadelphia School of Circus Arts (6452 Greene Street) presents frights and feats during the debut of Haunted Circus Mansion, running every Saturday through October 27, 2018. Come out and explore the dark and spooky paths inside one of Mt. Airy’s most mysterious and grand 100-year old properties. By day, the former home of St. Madeleine Sophie Church in West Mt. Airy is filled with laughter and joy of circus students learning a new skill. By night, when the sun goes down, the spirits come alive and enchant the dark hallways, cavernous classrooms and long-forgotten secret spaces. Philadelphia Theatre Company Warms Hearts This Holiday Season with Princess Concert and Sing-Along on December 16th

Philadelphia Theatre Company welcomes back everyone’s favorite princesses for a heart-warming afternoon and evening concert for the entire family. During A Dream Is A Wish: Holiday Princess Concert audiences will sing-along with a gathering of princes and princesses from popular movie musicals and television shows in a one-day-only event on Sunday, December 16, at 3:00pm and 6:00pm. Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite prince or princess. After the show, the cast will host a meet-and-greet reception with holiday cookies, apple cider and photo opportunities. The Holiday Princess Concert will take place at Philadelphia Theatre Company at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (480 S. Broad Street).

South Street Scares Up Family Fun During Pumpkinfest

South Street Headhouse District has plenty of tricks and treats for children and adults of all ages during the neighborhood’s annual Halloween festivities. On Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, South Street Pumpkin Fest returns to Headhouse Square (2nd and Lombard) with circus performances, horse and wagon hay rides, crafts for kids, seasonal bites, pumpkin putt-putt golf, a straw bale maze, face painting and costume contests and even a a pumpkin pie eating contest. Businesses will also open their doors for trick or treaters (12 and under) from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.

Philadelphia Theatre Company Kicks Off 44th Season with Pennsylvania Premiere of Lynn Nottage's Sweat→

Philadelphia Theatre Company kicks off the 2018-2019 season with the Pennsylvania premiere of Lynn Nottage’s Sweat. This Pulitzer Prize for Drama winner explores Reading, Pennsylvania’s shrinking industrial economy and shares the fear, tragedy and hopefulness of a community on the verge of inevitable change. The production will kick-off the first produced season under new Producing Artistic Director Paige Price. Justin Emeka makes his Philadelphia debut directing a cast filled with local stars and Barrymore Award winners who have extensive theatre, film and television credits. Sweat will run from October 12 to November 4, 2018 at Philadelphia Theatre Company’s stage at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, 480 S. Broad Street. Opening Night is Wednesday, October 17th at 7:00pm. Inis Nua Theatre Company Presents The Monster in the Hall By David Greig October 3 to 21, 2018

Inis Nua Theatre Company will open its 15th anniversary season with the Philadelphia premiere of The Monster in the Hall, written by Scottish playwright David Greig. This funny musical play about family, love and really big motorcycles is the second production Inis Nua will stage by Greig, following the company’s 2014 breakout hit Midsummer [a play with songs]. Midsummer went on to earn four Barrymore Award nominations. Monster will be directed by Claire Moyer and stars Claris Park, Doug Durlacher, Eleni Delopoulos and Jamison Foreman. Previews run October 3 and 4, with Opening Night set for October 5, 2018. The show runs until October 21 for a total of 15 performances. All performances will take place at the Louis Bluver Theatre at the Drake, 302 S Hicks Street in Philadelphia. Philadelphia Theatre Company is ready to take off into the future. The company announced its first produced season under its new leadership team, Producing Artistic Director Paige Price and Managing Director Emily Zeck, to an audience in the theatre’s space in the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, 480 S. Broad St. PTC announced that this inaugural season under new leadership includes a Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Lynn Nottage that takes place in Pennsylvania, a World Premiere from the 2017 Kilroys List, and a TONY-winning Jason Robert Brown musical set in the Midwest during the 60s based on a popular bestselling novel.
