Feed the Giraffes in Brand New Experience at Philadelphia Zoo

Philadelphia Zoo (3400 West Girard) is thrilled to announce the opening of Giraffe Encounter. This brand new, hands-on experience brings visitors eye-to-eye with the three tallest residents of America's first Zoo. Participants will have a chance to feed the Zoo's giraffe family, which includes Stella, Abigail and Bea. The newly enhanced add-on to the giraffe exhibit will debut on Thursday, July 7th. Giraffe Encounter is available daily from 10:00am to 12:00pm Noon and 1:00pm to 4:00pm. This new encounter is only $6 for general admission holders, $5 for Individual, Dual, Family and Family Plus Members, and $5 for Family Deluxe Members. Tickets are available inside the Zoo only, in African Plains, through a QR code. Guest can feed the giraffe their favorite treat of browse to enjoy. The giraffe's 18 inch tongues move very fast, so have those cameras charged, on and ready!

Philadelphia Zoo Lights Up A Million Holiday Lights for Dazzling Return of LumiNature

Philadelphia Zoo (3400 W. Girard) announces the dazzling return of LumiNature Presented by Chase, from November 18th to January 9th. The giant-sized holiday extravaganza will transform the entire Zoo into a dazzling winter wonderland. Guests will experience a magical journey of lights, music, sounds and surprises. LumiNature will feature 14 illuminated experience zones that will feature lively themed displays, newly-enhanced installations and hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights. Highlights will include a 100 ft-long aquarium tunnel, enormous jellyfish, a brand new octopus tree, a 21-feet tall brilliant colored snake, hundreds of illuminated penguins, giant cat eyes glowing in the dark of night, a 22-feet-tall Butterfly Tree, a new Wilderness Express Train, and a 25-foot tree made entirely of lit flamingo lawn ornaments.

It’s not Halloween without Boo at the Zoo! Join Philadelphia Zoo (3400 W. Girard Avenue) for three spooky weekends for this annual fall extravaganza! Guests are encouraged to come in costume, explore the Zoo during the beautiful autumn season and enjoy festive fall offerings for purchase. Get ready for some tricks, more treats and lots of excitement at this yearly Halloween celebration, including candy around the Zoo. Come dressed in your favorite costume, enjoy seasonal décor, photo opportunities, festive fall offerings and have a spooktacular time! As a special treat to pair with Boo at the Zoo, and by popular demand, BIG TIME has been extended to October 31st. Guests can celebrate Halloween and visit dinosaurs all in one day. There's no tricks, just treats at Philadelphia Zoo! Boo at the Zoo is free to members with advance online reservation. Admission for Boo at the Zoo is free with the regular price of admission.

Philadelphia Zoo announces the return of LumiNature, a brilliant light extravaganza, set to glimmer again this holiday season. Opening on Thursday, November 18th, this much anticipated light spectacular will again transform the Zoo from its daytime magic into a dazzling winter wonderland. Baby Boom! Philadelphia Zoo Welcomes Adorable Baby Penguin, Sloth, Gibbon, Lemur and Langurs

Spring has officially sprung at the Zoo, with the explosion of animal births including a critically endangered Mongoose Lemur, two endangered Francois Langur’s, an endangered White-handed gibbon, a Hoffman two-toed sloth and a Humboldt penguin chick, considered Vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). All of the infants are doing well and are on exhibit at the Zoo - just in time for the holiday weekend.

Philadelphia Zoo Debuts Friday Nights Dinos and Bites with Extended Hours

Philadelphia Zoo (3400 W. Girard Avenue) is set to take a dinosaur-sized bite out of summer with the launch of Friday Nights Dinos and Bites. Beginning every Friday, from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend, the Zoo will host a new evening adventure with extended hours, amazing animals, life-size animatronic dinosaurs and prehistoric-themed foods, that complement the new exhibit, Big Time: Life in an Endangerous Zone experience. Newly-renamed, Bedrock Brews beer garden and Dino Bites fooderie, fire up pre-historic burger and beer pairings and other tasty treats to chomp on, making Friday Nights Dinos and Bites the perfect spot for a night out with the family or a dino-mite date night for adults. Friday Nights Dinos and Bites runs on Friday nights through 8:00pm. General Zoo Admission is $24 for ages 12+ and $19 for ages 2-11, children under 2 are free, plus entrance for Big Time $6 (adults and children ages 2+)

Philadelphia Zoo Announces Return of Cherished Zoo Keys Plus Unveils Limited Edition Dino-Key

Philadelphia Zoo (3400 W. Girard Avenue) announced today the return of the famous Zoo Key and talking story books, plus the addition of a new, limited-edition Dino-Key. Back by popular demand, the animal–shaped Zoo Keys will be able to be used at solar-powered audio boxes situated around the Zoo campus. Beginning March 25th, guests can use their Zoo Keys to unlock all new stories and secret tales about the magnificent creatures living at the Zoo. The new Dino-Key will unleash amazing stories of when dinosaurs and other massive creatures roamed the Earth in prehistoric times. Zoo-goers can listen to all audiobooks in both English and Spanish. Zoo Keys will retail for $3.00 and be available at any Zoo retail location and the Zoo shop.

Giant Animatronic Dinosaurs To Take Over Philadelphia Zoo at Big Time - Opening March 2021

Philadelphia Zoo (3400 W. Girard Avenue) announces Big Time: Life in an Endangerous Age, a brand-new immersive multi-sensory experience featuring 24-life-size, animatronic dinosaurs that will transport guests back to when these giants roamed the Earth. Opening to the public on March 29, 2021, Big Time highlights some of history’s most powerful events, volcanic eruptions and asteroid strikes, that changed the atmosphere, the level of the seas, the temperature of the earth, even the amount of sunlight on the planet. As a result of these catastrophes, some creatures had the time to adapt, and others did not, dying off forever. Through evocative landscapes, realistic settings, immersive sounds and life-like giants, Big Time takes guests through the Age of Dinosaurs through to present day, showing what life was like and the challenges faced when these amazons walked the planet. Big Time will open to members for a preview from Thursday, March 25th to Sunday, March 28th. Big Time opens to the general public on Monday, March 29th through September 30th. Reservations are available for Big Time starting on February 17th at Noon.

Philadelphia Zoo Introduces Baby Giraffe Named Bea Who Is Eight Feet Tall and 1,000 Lbs

Philadelphia Zoo is thrilled to welcome a new addition to its family, Bea, a 15-month-old female giraffe, that arrived on November 20th from Knoxville Zoo in Tennessee. Since her arrival, Bea has been getting adjusted to her new keepers and met her new herd mates 18-year-old, Stella and 11-year-old Abigail. All are settling in well, and keepers are giving Bea her own space overnight which offers some independence and quiet time.
