It is official! Diner en Blanc Philadelphia sold out all available registrations in record time today. After a server outage yesterday in the international office, phase three registration opened locally today without a hitch to more than 6,000 people at 10:00 AM. Organizers sold out all 2,500 slots in twenty-four minutes. This is a record, as phase three registration in 2012 took ten days. Not only did the event sell out, but the 2,500 slots include 200 extra slots that were not previously announced. Next steps for excited participants include shopping trips for clothes, tables and chairs, meal preparation and planning, and designing tablescapes. Starting in late July, organizers will debut profiles about notable attendees that will include chefs, public officials, business owners, community members and volunteers. -- About Diner en Blanc Philadelphia --
From global phenomenon to highly sought-after “secret,” Dîner en Blanc returns to Philadelphia this summer for an unforgettable evening of elegance, beauty and magic. On Thursday, August 22, 2013, twenty-five hundred participants will celebrate and re-purpose a highly-visible public space by enjoying a night filled with food, wine, fashion, culture and music. The final location is kept secret until just minutes before the event. This très chic picnic, now celebrating its 25th year internationally, is part mystery tour, part pop-up feast and part je ne sais quoi. The event is BYOB and therefore all participants must be at least 21 years old. Dîner en Blanc’s Philadelphia is produced entirely by local volunteers that include two Co-Hosts, eight Group Leaders, 48 Table Hosts and several on-site volunteers.
