Uptown Beer Garden Returns to Philadelphia with New Chef, Exclusive IPA, More Seating

Teddy Sourias (BRU Craft & Wurst, U-Bahn, Cinder) announces the return of Uptown Beer Garden to 1735 JFK Boulevard starting on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Changes for the 9,000 square foot space will include additional seating, expanded bar space and party access to the BNY Mellon Wealth atrium. The most notable change, however, will be in the kitchen as acclaimed three bell rated Chef Jonathan Petruce takes over the new outdoor grill for the summer to fire up elevated barbecue and street food favorites like Spanish Octopus, Turkish Chicken and Chimichurri Beef Skewers, plus Grilled Mexicorn, Lobster Roll, Sausage/ Peppers and more.

Valley Forge Music Fair Announces Summer Concerts with Daughtry, Dr. John, Phil Vassar, Charlie Daniels Band

Valley Forge Casino Resort (1160 First Avenue) announces a full summer concert schedule for Valley Forge Music Fair that includes a huge Memorial Day weekend concert from Daughtry and rounds out the rest of the summer with a who’s who of living legends. With a full line up of everything from country acts like Phil Vassar on May 13th and The Charlie Daniels Band on July 8th, to Grammy nominated rockers like Daughtry (featuring American Idol and The Passion’s Chris Daughtry) on May 29th or the soulful sounds of Dr. John on June 3th, there is truly something for everyone to enjoy. Daughtry will perform to the Resort’s largest audience of 3,000 people in the Event Center. All other shows will be held in The Venue (Waterford Ballroom). Philadelphia’s largest annual spring block party announces 30+ restaurants, bars, bakeries and food trucks that will fill the 12 blocks of South Street and surrounding streets. Brauhaus Schmitz will return with Maifest on the 700 block with with German beers, dancers, music, food, flower crowns and even a Maypole. Inis Nua Theatre Presents American Premiere of The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning

Inis Nua Theatre Company moves to The Proscenium Theatre at its new home The Drake (at 203 South Hicks Street) to present The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning by Tim Price. The American premiere of this Welsh play revives some not-so-long-ago American history to tell the story of the young Army intelligence analyst who leaked the largest amount of classified documents in U.S. history.
The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning opens on Friday, April 29 at 8:00 pm, with previews on Wednesday, April 27 and Thursday, April 28 at 7:00 pm. The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning runs for a total of 16 performances, through May 15, 2016. All shows are at the Proscenium Theatre at The Drake, 203 South Hicks Street. South Hicks Street is right next to The Drake apartment building at 1512 Spruce Street.

Philadelphia Celebrates Earth Day with Clean Air Council's 35th Run for Clean Air Presented by Toyota Hybrids

Clean Air Council presents Philadelphia’s largest Earth Day celebration with the 35th Run for Clean Air Presented by Toyota Hybrids. Nearly 2,500 participants are expected to run and walk on Saturday, April 16, 2016, starting at 7:00am, outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Participants can choose from four races (5K Run, PHLY 10K Run, 3K Walk, Kids’ fun run) while family and friends cheer them on. Afterwards, enjoy Earth Day at a special open-air festival in front of the iconic Philadelphia Museum of Art featuring an eco beer garden, food and drink, games, vendors, music and interactive displays. Online registration has closed, but in-person registration is still available on the day of the run, as well as during in-person packet pick-ups on Friday April 15, from 10:00am to 6:00pm at the Clean Air Council office, 135 S 19th St, Ste. 300 (19th and Walnut).
